Nice article. My family is making the trip tomorrow to see the seniors off. Normally we wouldn't do a night game unless we can spend the night (we can't this time due to Sunday morning plans), but I decided I wanted to do senior night. I hope they get a good crowd, but I got my tix pretty last minute and they're pretty good seats.

Unfortunately, it's the beginning of Spring Break, so the student sections will likely be even more empty than usual.

Thanks Seniors. Though the results this year have not been as desired, your collective hearts have been on display this year each and every time.

Enjoy your future, be it in basketball or business or other, may you always be successful and represent Mason well, as you have always done.

Can't get enough of that video! Thanks to Sherrod, Bryan and Johnnie for their hard work, dedication and effort both on and off the court. I look forward to seeing a win tonight and possibly doing some damage in Brooklyn. Go Seniors, go Patriots.

Since there is no Johnny Williams specific thread, I'll post here:

Johnnie you are a great person. I have enjoyed talking to you several times at events. You have a good head on your shoulders and will do great things in life. That was a scary injury you suffered when you got the concussion. I am impressed that you battled back and continued to give it your all on the court. I am also impressed that you managed to already earn your degree even while suffering from concussion symptoms for so long. Congratulations to you. You have represented Mason very well.

Thank you Johnnie Williams!

BA was the guts of this team.

Will we have anyone like that on the squad next year at all?

I know Jenkins hit the proverbial freshmen wall down the stretch this season, but I really think he has the potential to fill some of that leadership and guts void. He reminds me a lot of Will Thomas in that he's quiet personally but wears his emotions on his sleeve.

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed in Jenkins down the stretch. He looked like a completely different player and looked lost out there more times than not. He has a similar personality to Will Thomas but he is nowhere near the player. Maybe its because Will knew his role/strengths and stuck to it. I think Jenkins could end up with similar numbers to Will if he would stop trying to drive on people or work on his handles. He dribbles the ball way to high, turns it over, and often times is completely out of control. I think part of the problem is he tries to be a 3 but his skills are more like a 4. And defensively he really struggled down the stretch especially against SL, the Dukes and Fordham. He gave up way too many open shots and put backs. Now, having said all that I think he is the future of this team so hopefully he will continue to put in the work because he has a very high ceiling and the team needs him to be the leader and play to his potential.

We will never have another Will Thomas, but he and Jenkins had very similar freshmen campaigns that led to them being named to the all-rookie teams in their respective conferences.

Minutes: Both averaged 23
Points: Jenkins 7.2; Thomas 5.6
Rebounds: Jenkins 6.0, Thomas 5.6

There's no question Will was the better defensive player in their first seasons, and it's something Jenkins definitely needs to improve upon. I also agree with you that Jalen needs to work on his shot selection.

The thing I love about Will and Jalen is they appear to have a similar kind of work ethic that pushes them to want to get better. I expect Jenkins to spend a lot of time in the offseason working on his weaknesses, several of which were exposed as the season went along.

watching the seniors last game on Weds was heartbreaking man... J2 might not have had a great season but he played with the most heart I've ever seen him play from beginning to end vs Fordham... I wish Hew would have kept feeding him down low because he had a great offensive start the first half... and I think me of all people overlooked BA's hard work these last 3 years because I was use to him screwing up the previous 2 years but nonetheless he always gave max effort... against fordham BA played in running kicks to salvage the season and still pulled the team within reach to get the W... he was the heart of the team... I wish SW wasn't in a lull in the beginning of the game because we needed him... I wish they could have snagged a few more games man because they deserved better effort from the team as a whole and better attention to details from Hewitt & Co.... Best of luck to the seniors
