Questions
1. Does Providence have the money to buy him out?
1a. Do they have the money for a new coach?
2. Will English take the usual 50% and have job freedom?
3. Will English take the full 100% and just sit out?
4) Does the AD get fired over this?
All good questions. This is a basketball school and they (donors and alumni) have moved on from English. Losing a big lead to UConn in the last few minutes three weeks ago was bad but blowing a 21 pt lead to Ed Cooley and Georgetown was the final straw. They raised $10M for their collective last year. I'm sure they can raise more this year to buyout KE and close this chapter.

If I'm KE I take the full buyout and sit out a year. He now finds himself sitting lower in the coaching ranks than Paulson. Best move for him is to try and secure a job as a lead recruiter for a P5 team.

As for your last question, Nap's a good fundraiser, but his biggest hire as AD was KE, based largely on what he read in Sports Illustrated :ROFLMAO: . If I'm a big donor I wouldn't trust him to make the right choice going forward. I'd bring in a new AD and move on.

KE reminds me of Todd Bozeman. At 29 he took over for Campanelli at California, got his team to the sweet 16, and then flamed out two years later. Wound up working for Pfizer in sales and coaching 9 year olds. Now an assistant at Rhody.

Not only is Kim English and his Providence team last place in the Big East, one of his players today had a flagrant 2 foul that led to a big fight with punches thrown and benches emptied

Kim English post game presser

Videos of the huge fight with punches being thrown:

Powell is a Dbag.... that was a cheap shot foul and then he threw his elbow it looks like at another player.

Get a real haircut Powell... looking like a Mad Max extra reject with whatever you call that rug

Providence was expected to be in the NCAA Tournament mix this season, but began Big East play 2-9.David Butler II / Imagn Images

"Kim English, Providence (11-15, 4-11 Big East)

English’s standout first season replacing Cooley — when the Friars went 21-14 and produced Big East Player of the Year Devin Carter — earned a contract extension that runs through the 2029-30 season. But Providence still wound up on the wrong end of the NCAA Tournament bubble that season, and things have been rough in Rhode Island ever since. English is 23-33 in the past two seasons, with the Friars near the bottom of a down Big East.

His buyout is believed to be in the $9 million-$11 million range. With program morale low, it’s difficult to envision English reversing Providence’s trajectory enough to earn a fourth season, even if that means the Friars lose standout freshman guards Jamier Jones and Stefan Vaaks.

"I think I'm one of the least emotional, rash posters here. I try to see both sides of things.

After today's display, I'm out if Kim is back.

We've played embarrassing undisciplined basketball for two (maybe three) years now. Today we added dirty basketball to the list. I was embarrassed to be a Friar fan today.

I do think Kim should be fired tomorrow. I think Powell shouldn't have a locker tomorrow.

Clean this chit up, the Providence name was worth something. It's slipping away fast.

And this says nothing of Hopkins, he's a chizzler all around but we can only control our own house. Joey Hassett had a great takedown of Hopkins at the start of the postgame."

Unexpectedly wound up at an AHL hockey game in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania this afternoon. First time checking the AHL standings. Perhaps some Friars fans have turned their attention to the Providence Bruins. They're having a hell of a year.

The arena in Providence is used often. KE could do pretty well if he stays in town and chooses to work in concessions.
