Still Waiting for Erik Copes

Due to injuries and suspensions, Erik Copes has now missed a total of 20 games in his career. He had already lost his starting position to JUCO transfer Shevon Thompson, who is currently averaging a double-double (11.6 ppg & 11.6 rpg). Additionally, freshman Trey Porter has been averaging 15.5 minutes per game in the 4 games that he's played.

So, what will Copes' likely role be when he returns from shoulder injury?

Maybe this was posted, but a good article on Copes from a two weeks ago in which Eric recognizes he's not lived up to his potential and has re-dedicated himself in the offseason.

Copes is the Patriots' RGIII. And after this season, both will be gone.

Nope. RG3 had one good season. He's more like our Heath Shuler.

I think Copes would still have some value on the boards. While Porter is sometimes in the game along with Thompson, he isn't strong bringing down rebounds and can be knocked around underneath. So if Thompson needs rebounding help, Copes may take some of Porter's minutes as well as spelling Thompson when he needs a break.
