Stony Brook is a done deal to the CAA, source told @Stadium. CAA also set to add Hampton and Monmouth, and could still target anywhere from 2-4 more teams at some point. Final approval on Stony Brook, Hampton and Monmouth expected early next week.

Oh boy: Stony Brook and Hofstra games will be fun. I remember talk of them being added way back in the CAAZone days. It’s not a bad get for them honestly, kind of like a northern version of Elon.

My understanding is that the administrations don't like one another. Add to the fact that they both have decent basketball programs and aren't far apart, it should make for a very good rivalry. There should be some juice to when they play one another.

a quick search shows that since 1993, Hofstra and Stony Brook have played 23 times. Stony Brook is 5-18 over that stretch. They are 1-12 at Hofstra, that lone win coming this past December by 17

"On Wednesday, February 9, the University of Southern Indiana accepted an invitation to join the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) as it's Division I partner. The partnership allows the University to move forward with reclassification in the NCAA prior to a June 1 deadline. Upon acceptance, the transition process takes four years to complete.

USI would begin competing in the Ohio Valley Conference at the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year and would leave the GLVC at the end of this academic year. Although USI may be eligible for conference championships during the four-year transition, it would not be eligible for NCAA championships."

This is about as perfect as a G5 conference could be. Geographically aligned divisions, strong brands, the FunBelt is alive and well.
