Interesting. I don't have a strong opinion, but it leaves the conference without its history (at least in name recognition) of 2 FF teams, David Robinson and Navy, UR of the '80s, etc.

Given the 3 conferences with similar acronyms - ACC, AAC, and CAA - I don't think the CAA is the one worried about being confused with the others

Point being....Drexel, Stoney Brook, NC A&T, etc al certainly don't fit the image, nostalgia or association the name "colonial" had with members of long ago ...

You might actually be right about the presidents of Hampton and NC A&T maybe bristling at the name. That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Drexel, Hofstra, and Delaware though were all there during the good parts of the CAA in the early 2000s. I’d definitely include them as part of the new “old” CAA nostalgia once vcu joined (you know the mid-90s-2012 seasons).
