Besides the hilarity of misspelling the word athletic twice, I have to think this will only confuse people between the Atlantic Coast conference and the Coastal Athletic Association.

I mean too bad Mason isn't in it anymore, they could have been the George Madison Colonials of the Coastal Athletic Association. Damn, that's a mouthful.

Given the 3 conferences with similar acronyms - ACC, AAC, and CAA - I don't think the CAA is the one worried about being confused with the others ;)

I was wondering if anyone would catch the spelling. You passed the test.

Oops, did you mean the George Madison Colonials from the Coastal Atheltic Association?

Maybe it’s not a misspelling either!

They might be trying to heavily recruit and go after players/coaches/fans that are Atheistic Celts?

When you add some HBCs, consider the social justice environment and sponsors, plus the added geography you have to get rid of "colonial".....

Agreed. Download a Grammarly plug-in if you need to.

I don't mind the name change; most of the old CAA is gone( I don't consider Towson, Hofstra, ect. as Old CAA--I mean at the foundation of the Colonial OG schools) so why not re-brand?

All of the new members are still within the original 13 colonies.
Point being....Drexel, Stoney Brook, NC A&T, etc al certainly don't fit the image, nostalgia or association the name "colonial" had with members of long ago ...

And as our friends across the Potomac decided....."colonial" is not acceptable for modern imaging ....

You might actually be right about the presidents of Hampton and NC A&T maybe bristling at the name. That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Drexel, Hofstra, and Delaware though were all there during the good parts of the CAA in the early 2000s. I’d definitely include them as part of the new “old” CAA nostalgia once vcu joined (you know the mid-90s-2012 seasons).
