It was nice to see some new fans in or near my section that were loud and involved, I hope they return. MANY season ticket holders that used to be near me were not in attendance. The students in attendance near the band sat on hands for the most part, there were few moments of excitement. Was it due to the game time, opponent, and day? Time will tell. Benefit of the doubt from me at this point.

The "Beer Garden" was a total failure. I really missed not having anywhere to go before the game and at halftime to look at stats and discuss with knowledgeable friends. Instead I left my seats with 2 minutes to go in the first half and stood in line in the ONE concession stand available to fans at the North Entrance. The ONE stand had TWO people working the registers while others floundered around. It took 12 minutes to be served. What a shit show on all counts, those that waited until the half easily had double the wait. Is this a deal breaker for me? After one game and one exhibition, YES!

Can't comment on the new Patriot Lounge but the Courtside area was not well attended and the 48 seats near the court were mostly empty.

Way to Go Mason and The Patriot Club, you suck. A lifelong fan is already looking at bailing and just watching from home.

Sigh........

Smart to place post game autograph table (long line of kids and families) across from Rally House tables..created traffic flow and likely improved sales.

Was the game at 4pm because Mason knew schools were closed today and they thought they could get more fans. Or is that giving Mason too much credit?

If they wanted to get the family crowd, they should of had like moon bounces set up in the parking lot

No. It was a timing/scheduling issue with UMBC and the women's game that was already set for the 7pm slot well before UMBC was on the mens schedule.

Really liked the look of the lights going off at some of the timeouts, wish it was a little louder after we made some runs and those lights went off, that was one of my suggestions in talking with athletics and hope that continues on. There will be more of my suggestions/athletics ideas implemented soon!!

I won't argue with you about the beer garden...I've gone by it a few times each time I've been there (exhibition games and 2 games tonight) and have never seen any customers.

However, I thought that the Courtside area was rather well-attended before today's men's game and that the 48 seats were much more filled than they were at the Exhibition games.

The concession stand on the South side had a very long line at halftime--I'd guess many of those folks weren't served before the second half started.

Did anyone on here go to the new Patriot Lounge? I'm curious how it was. That's probably still the best hospitality space in the building and will be improved more once the coach's offices move to the new facility.

Saw attendance listed at 3,290. Didn't feel like that many.

I was there at halftime. There were four of us at one table, and a couple of others were being used, but ... eh ... . I'm the long run, it will be cheaper than the Gold Room, but I wish the university cared about this who have been Patriot Club and Gold Room members for well over 20 years. I didn't even get a phone call when I didn't renew. I'm shocked ... but not really.

They weren't - I walked the concourse during halftime and got back to my seats just after 2nd half tip - all concession lines were still long.

And we just extended the contract with Sodexho.

Didn't realize my order was wrong until I got back to my seat. Only two registers open. I know there wasn't a large crowd but still opening day. I saw it looked like there's also a self-serve soda area added (closed) similar to the beer area they added last year (I did not walk over to that side to see if it was open)

I thought that Mason went with Chartwells a little over a year ago and dropped Sodexho. Nevertheless, not serving the fans in an ideal situation.

The Patriot Lounge seems to be a good operation. Much better food setup than we used to have in the Gold Room. They are able to use Chartwell’s catering operation instead of the confusing logistics of having a local restaurant serve via Sodexho employees. This might not always be 100% true, but it looks like the Patriot Lounge menu is the same catered menu each game as the Courtside Club, which makes sense and is easier for them to plan each game (i.e. and not run out of food.) Added food bonus - they have been keeping leftovers warm for halftime, which is nice for people who can’t get there before tip-off.

The Gold Room bartender has moved downstairs to the Patriot Lounge. The drink tickets are a little annoying, but the beers are now ~25% bigger so that compensates.

Where's the Patriot Lounge? Is it what used to be the Green Room downstairs? Are the food prices similar to the concourse concessions?

Unfortunately EBA is still under sodexo. The rest of campus is chartwells.

I think it may be a monumental thing rather than a GMU athletics thing

I believe the Patriot Lounge is open to all and is in the space previously used as the Gold Room.

The Courtside Club is the space behind the basket beside the Mason bench and is only to be occupied by those who Mason can milk for exceptional amounts of money. Loyal regular fans and supporters who have given their time and money over many years, but not exception amounts, need not apply.

Ahh....so the Patriot Lounge is the place with expensive beer, chips for $2 more than the concourse concessions, and no other edibles, right (?).

Patriot Lounge I believe is the equivalent of the old gold room but located where the old green room was held. Drink tickets and food included.
That may be right. Us Gold Room people were completely left out of the change discussions so how would we know ... oh, by one email telling us your room is being taken away and put in a cave ... so pay up and shut up and you'll like it!
