I am in Las Vegas at the Players Era/NIL Tournament.
Men's Finals were yesterday.
Women's Final were this afternoon.
I sat in the Texas section - which won the Woman's Tournament with a short jumper with .7 seconds left in the game.
The folks i sat with are Texas Women Season Ticket Holders.
They told me that they play in a 12,000-seat arena where the head coach has mandated that the season ticket prices kept low to maximize attendance.
(also, this should increase concession, parking revenue and a higher expected per person marketing rate)
Now I have no idea of what the Texas costs/revenue streams look like, nor what form of pricing per seat looks like, but it is one strategy.
btw Women's payout
Texas - $1M
SC - $500k
UCLA - $300K
Duke - $200k
Men's side
each of the 16 teams got $1M each
Kansas finished in 3rd place and got an announced performance bonus of an additional $300k
so I assume there was a similar bonus structure to the Women's payout
