Agree with many of the comments on here especially on needing to somehow fix the rebounding. I was watching the game on and off, but what I really liked, that I see so many teams screw up and we didn't, was guarding the 3 at all costs at the end of the game. We switched all over the place and were glued to all of the shooters the entire last minute of the game. If that ridiculous heave had gone in, I really don't know what else you can do, but thankfully it didn't. Make some more FTs and that is a recipe for winning games down the stretch.

Any word on Maddox? When it happened and it was speculated to be a charley horse, I kinda expected him back on the floor before the end of the game. Did Tony say anything about Darius' return?

Did I hear correctly? The broadcasters said that we were a top 20 FT shooting team in the country?
We are NOT top 20 in FT%---72.5% which is 148th nationally (national average is 71%--Kenpom). However, we are 12th nationally in the % of our total pts that come from FTs (26.1%, compared to national average of 19.2%).

So we're a slightly better than average FT shooting team that gets an above average number of opportunities from the line, leading to a high percentage of our pts on FTs.

The announcers weren't terribly clear about that.

We are largely a good FT shooting team outside of our bigs, who are pretty bad.

Here are the averages

Maddox: 89.2
O’Connor: 75
Newton: 94.1
KD: 76.5
Anderson: 75
Billups: 70.6
Begg: 75

Quigley: 62.5 (he’s only taken 8 FTs)

And our two bigs

Haynes: 52.9
Emejuru: 59.5

Haynes has bad technique on ft's. He rises up then stops. Then throws the ball using all arms and basically going against all proper teachings of letting your legs shoot the ball. Should be all one motion. I can't believe the staff doesn't address this.

The tv guys said we rank in top 20 in generating points from the line. Might be top 5 if we made more FT's.

Yes, saw him on the bench. With Austin Ball and his mystery injury/illness
Looks like Tony has decided to shorten the rotation. It's notable that this was the 1st game of the year where Anderson got an extended run, which I like, because of his ability to shoot from distance. He didn't do much this game, but let's see what transpires over the next several.

Also like that Newton played with discipline. Coming off a career-best effort, he may have been inclined to force up shots, but he didn't. Also glad to see Johnson and Haynes are capable of delivering on their promise and potential.

One more cupcake before sh*t gets real.
