Thoughts: It’s pretty hard to get a KenPom rating of 358. If you believe in that type of thing then New Hampshire is one of the weakest D1 teams around this year. Two losses against D1 teams by a combined 61 points hints at how bad they are. That being said, we are really going through some growing pains right now. What should be a 20-30 point win will most likely be closer than necessary. We have time to grow and injuries have not helped but it's time to step up and deliver.

Timing Issue

Key WVB weekend series
both GMU and L-C are tied for 2nd place in the league
Saturday is the last match of regular season
Fan base must choose one or the other
Match is likely to be close and has potential for a long 5 set match
(I believe i am going to the WVB match- unless i can find a $5 Men's BBall Ticket)

Why is the start time the same time as Men's BBall?
Why wasn't this match moved to a Noon start time or the Men's BBall moved to a 4 pm start time, or both?
I believe this has happened at least 3 times this WVB season - starting with Mason Madness.

GMU should bring this up with the A-10 League office to prevent same time scheduling starting the Friday of Mason Madness, during Men's BBall season. This should be the case for all WVB A-10 programs.

And the Men's BBall team can do a better job of cross promoting the same day WVB matches.

My general thoughts after the first three games and thusly this upcoming one against New Hampshire:

1: Mincy/Long backcourt is the real deal. Them + the injured BOC is the best backcourt Mason has had since the Larranaga years.
2: The size and length upgrade is evident even compared to last year. All of these guys are long.
3: I know the performances the last two games have not been optimal at every minute (though the second halves were significantly better in each imo, which doesn't surprise me, Tony has generally been very elite at second half adjustments as a HC), but it feels extremely hard to judge with half our 2/3 depth in BOC, Trout and Fatt all out. Even the last two back by Daytona will be a radically big change I feel, just by how Tony can allocate minutes alone.
4: UNH has a decent sized starting 5 but the bench makes them either smaller or extremely inexperienced at the DI level- and the starting 5 isnt that impressive to begin with.
5: Outside of demolishing DIII tiny school Curry College, the defense has been really shaky for the Wildcats- they let up 69 (nice) to another DIII tiny school in Emmanuel.
6: They do seem to have the ability to get hot from three. Wings gotta be on that. Troutman back should help bigly.
7: Mason by 22, 88-66.
