Game 32: Atlantic 10 Tournament - #5 GMU vs #13 St. Bonaventure game on Thursday, March 12 at 2:00PM.

Why bother? They clearly showed no heart in 2nd half why waste everyones time. Why would they show up for a pointless tournament? Do they have talent yes but the Flagrant foul was the end. You could just tell they had completly lost it at that point.
The flagrant was Ellington hustling after Kory's 3rd or 4th bad pass. And we got lucky when the guy missed both FT's, but I agree with your point about them quitting then.

I think without Ellington its a blowout and they don't even ever have a lead. Not really faulting him for getting it as much as it should have never happened. The turnovers were just pathetic in 2nd half.

Run the same offense all 2nd half... run around top of key, pass it off a few times and then either pass to Riley or dribble it into the paint in front of 2-3 guys and try and make a shot. WTF are we doing. Change up your offensive scheme.

No. It was not the same offense as the first half. In the first half there were A LOT more touches and good ball movement per possession.

The second half was not the offense we saw in the first half. If Mason runs the same offense in the second half as they did in the first then this game would have been well in hand... but, nooooooo.

Like so many games we suffered through in February, Long would waste 15 to 20 seconds dribbling at the top of the key, make one move to the basket, and suddenly five seconds remain on the shotclock for a desperate pass or shot attempt. Mincy was in on the clock-wasting a few times, too.

When Jahari and Kory weren't sloppily handing the ball to Mitchell & Co. then Mason was doing well. These two guys play well when they're focused and locked in. The second half today... where did they go???

I mean, I love Long and Mincy... but not today. I blame the guard play and Coach for not adjusting back to a passing oriented game with multiple touches each possession. What an excruciatingly preventable loss.

Bottom line, and it PISSES me off to say this. 15 years since we danced. F&ck me.
We may not dance for a while. This was our best shot for years and the end of season skid cost us.

Very hard for Mid-majors to pay for 6-10 players each year and really not know what you are getting... who can consistently play in the A-10 and their overall production value. Then we have to worry about them possibly quitting on ya once they start losing mid-season or if they are not happy about their playing time. Very hard to break through consistently in this NIL era, especially in a 1-2 bid league each year.

We basically have to keep up with vcu and Dayton each year because, as much as we hate to believe it, they just reload each year and are consistent with the talent levels they bring in.... and they are known to win consistently each year. Winning brings in better talent and resources. These 2 teams in the A-10 are the teams we have to strive to be but we are behind the 8-ball.

Then we need to take a hard look at Marvin Lewis and compare his performance to vcu and Dayton.

Money money money.. money!!! As as the song goes...

You can stick any person in the AD job...as long as Mason is behind vcu and Dayton in funding..it's going to impossible to keep a rotation together year over year.

The largest school in the conference, the state, located in the 3rd or 4th largest media market and one two or three hot beds of prep Basketball has to invest find away to take advantage of all the above and get the finance to keep a team together..

It's that simple.

Bingo.

All abut the money these days and how much of it you have and how good of a team you can buy. Until Congress can figure something out to cap things.... it's the wild wild west and the schools that have the money will continue to buy the better players and continue to win.

Another thing.... Kathy McKay ain't going to be funding much of this much more. Mason is going to need to figure out how to generate more donations and income if they want a winning program.

What gives you that impression? What would She shift her funding to?

We can't rely on one person to help continually fund a small portion of our basketball team. We are at the point where we need $4-$5 million to be competitive in the A10.

vcu NIL budget this year was reported to be $4-5million. They have Richmond companies investing in their program consistently.

I seriously doubt one person is going to fork up a large portion of this without any winning results, other than a share of the A10 regular season title... but no dance in 16 years.

GMU has got to find other revenue streams if we want to win in basketball.

If Congress has its way Trump actually, there will be no transfers every year, authentic NIL possibly starting after your 2nd semester, rev share to pay players and no more collectives. The Ncaa could of prevented this shit show years ago.
