Caught a few minutes of the first half of the Buffalo game. They went to a 1-3-1 for a couple of minutes. Brought back a few memories of Ron Hunter, GSU CAA days. Hunters' 1-3-1 was pretty stout with his son at the top - VCU's seemed soft and beatable. Unfortunately, Buffalo didn't help themselves much against any D they faced tonight.

Freshmen inconsistency remains inconsistent.

I don't know why, but my gut is telling me our guys are going to find a way to win this one.

Of course it could just be telling me I had Chipotle for lunch. :vomit:

But at least our game there is during winter break. I remember a few years ago VCU came here on Valentine's Day and we had to go to their place on a Saturday at 5.

If Shevon gets fully healthy over the break, it could be an interesting game. We would certainly have the advantage on the inside.

What will make this game winnable is if Abram, Otis and Grayer can all be hitting their outside shots on the same night.

I have a feeling fouls and free throw shooting is going to kill us again in this one: 12 point loss with lopsided free throw total being the difference.

Shevon dunks on Juwanna Mann, AKA Mo Cox, and breaks off all of his dirty dreads while smashing the glass in to oblivion. VCU stops the game while kids pile on to the floor to gather the dreads like pieces from a Pinata. We bring pain and Moore dishes and drives all night long with the lambs having no answer to Moore.

What jumps right off that stats page IMHO is that through the first 13 games, we've already had six different high scorers and five different leading rebounders.

We are young. Our guys don't always know where to be or exactly what to do at any given moment. But we are a TEAM that is getting contributions from many different players, and that certainly bodes well for the program's future.

It's reason No. 4,562,768 why we are blessed to have Dave Paulsen as coach instead of that idiot in the expensive suits.

I wish I could like this post twice!

Unfortunately I'm predicting a loss. If it was at home or on a neutral floor I'd be more optimistic but most of our guys have not yet experienced a hostile crowd yet in their young college careers. Also coming of a long break I think the team will be a little rusty.

If we keep it within 15 I'll consider it a moral victory. Gemini makes a good point about Shevon hopefully being able to get healthy over the break, but I think we will be really rusty having not played in almost 2 weeks while VCU will be playing consistently prior to the game. Add on the road, against VCU who has mostly only loss close games to BC teams, and I don't think we will pull this one out. Getting Marko back, with a healthy Shevon though could hopefully prove me wrong!

We don't normally win in Richmond and I don't expect this to be any different. We're coming up on 5 years since Mason last won at VCU (Feb 2011), and 4 years since Mason last beat VCU at all (Feb 2012)
