There was no British Beer and the Greek and British snacks did not last l Iong! I had great seats with my brother in 114. Felt good until the last 4 minutes of the 1st half.I read something about pretzels with a few dip options and British Beer.

It’s not showing up in the attendance numbers at EBA.Tough loss and a lot to work on, but I do want to highlight that the watch party had a great crowd. Winning the games were supposed to is making people buy in.
I blame the loss on the black uniforms.![]()
Thanks!
VT Head Coach Mike Young post game presser. He talks about Mason at the halfway point
The alley oops were maddening. They weren't low level of difficulty plays, try for those plays with a big lead.I know we have to take an annual game at a Power 5, and having the opportunity to play at Virginia Tech was a good challenge for the program.
I honestly hate it though. In order to win, you have to play essentially perfect, get every bounce, get every call in your favor and have the other team sleepwalk through the game. My hope is that Mason gets into better MTEs at some point of our lives, and that they get a neutral opportunity. I'm sure the schools that get beat down in Fairfax, feel the same way lol.
Yesterday, Mason didn't play anywhere up to our defensive standard from the jump ball and before they blinked, they were down 7-0. We had trouble defensively very quickly with Hansberry. Even though we settled towards the later part of the 1st half, Tech then went on a run and that was about all she wrote. Offensively we didn't move the ball at all and just looked confused. The shots we got were mostly 1 and done.
Its one thing to not play your best basketball, but the thing that irks me (and I know it irks others too) was the fact our guys were still going for alley oops down big. Instead of just trying to get momentum on your side, getting some baskets and getting rolling, you go for some home run play. Its nonsense. Whatever. /old man yelling at cloud dot gif.
Anyway, onto ODU and hopefully Mason can finish the rest of the non conference with wins. We need all the wins we can to stack up.
That’s the thing though, you didn’t have to play perfect to beat that tech team yesterday. You just had to not shit the bed for a 10 minute stretch of play. That was a very winnable game, against a very beatable team. That was not the duke or Marquette games last season what so ever.I know we have to take an annual game at a Power 5, and having the opportunity to play at Virginia Tech was a good challenge for the program.

Totally disagree with you on the at large comment. Win these last 3 non con( we will be heavy favorites in all 3) games. During conference play you have right now 5 quad 1 chances ( NET: Stl,GW (2), vcu (2) and at least 5-6 quad 2 chances. The A10 has 6 or 7 teams in top 100. Plenty of chances for an at large. That’s the thing though, you didn’t have to play perfect to beat that tech team yesterday. You just had to not shit the bed for a 10 minute stretch of play. We can stack all the wins we want, at large is pretty much dead. Hopefully the team was watching film today, because we’ve got a few weeks to lock in our defense before the games count.

vcu has a decent big this year alsoUnless this team gets a lot better I’m not buying we are winning most of those games.
Unfortunately, SLU, GW, and Dayton have our kryptonite this year (skilled bigs who will eat the paint). vcu is probably going to go the way vcu always goes (similar to how this game went—get boat raced for about 6 minutes on either side of the half and spend the rest of the game playing catch up).
I’ve harped on continuity on here. This is a continuity loss. We needed to keep our front court. I know that was impossible from a money standpoint, but even Gio helps our interior defense in this game.
