Mark my words, Skerry won't be at Towson in two years. Some BCS school will steal him, which is one of the risks of hiring a hot assistant. Mason fans old enough to remember Rick Barnes know exactly what that feels like. He stayed one year and bolted.

That's the brilliant thing about college sports. One guy can change the culture and program around quickly.

Yup. Before Anthony Grant and Shaka Smart, vcu was very similar to Mason, ODU, and the hey day of UNCW. A good program that seemed to be on the rise. Then with two good hires in a row, they achieved Mason's success, sustained it, and surpassed it. Meanwhile we went back to our old up-years-and-down-years pattern

As a basketball brain once told me in college hoops you are only one hire away from making or breaking a program.

I said to myself that I would give 10 games before I came up with expectations for this year.

Well I've seen 9, and I think I can make a fair enough assessment.

I predict 17 wins and 9th place in the A-10, and no postseason. It might even be pushing it, but we'll see.
