GMU has killed my enthusiasm. The Beer Garden is a joke. The prices are outrageous. The crowd, students included was a joke. But, it's only an exhibition!!!!! That's my whole point, if we had fans that actually gave a sh&t today wouldn't have been what is was. Ran into 7 couples who used to be Gold Room members and no longer are. I spent $14 for a beer I had NO interest in because it was the only option. No halftime option other that to stand in line at concessions. Congrats Mason! This will be my last year attending games. You killed me smalls.
Man...it feels like I could have written this.

Here's the "beer garden" in all it's glory.

Looks like the old gold room, minus a curtain. With a merch table.

Now I will say it was an exhibition so perhaps this isn’t what the actual beer garden will be. It was advertised as family friendly and fun gathering space. This looks blah.

For the love of god, we need some tvs so we can watch live action. Have no idea why they haven’t done that yet.

I’m pretty far from an apologist for the Mason administration, but they are in a tricky place with the way D-I college basketball has evolved and in a lot of ways it feels like “damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”

The reality is Team 61 is by far the most expensive roster Mason has had since NIL and rev share became a thing. Because we have a shit fan base, there’s not enough volume of people coming through the turnstiles to fund a $5 million roster without gouging season ticket holders for beers and trying to monetize pretty much everything.

The problem is all that does is make loyal, passionate fans like @Patriotsince81 feel worse about the experience and that really sucks because we can’t afford to be driving away the few people who care enough to show up. It’s a Catch-22.

But we’ve been begging the university to give Tony a chance to spend on the roster and they did that. Ironically this is probably the most talented team we’ve had since 2011-12. It absolutely is the deepest. Should be a really fun, successful season.

If only the Mason community cared enough about basketball to deserve these players and coaches….

Mendy looks like he could be serviceable in this role, at least as a second option (that, 3rd level) behind Kanga or for "emergency" minutes. Mendy needs more run to develop, but he could be good for us in the long-term.
It looks like they are trying to fit Mendy into a Stas-like role…

The walls and columns over here could really use some team colors/branding.

Wasn’t expecting some crazy build out for the beer garden, but yea this looks like someone thought of the idea 10 minutes before doors opened today.
I fully agree, and really hope that they have some ideas to make this fun unique and different. Otherwise this looks like a retired Gold Room stuck in 1995.

Where the 3's at? 1-6 so far.
Better in the second half. Finished 7-22. Valentine (3-6) and Jones (3-4) shot well from 3 and Miller was 1-1. Everybody else 0-11 with BOC, BO, and Adair each going 0-2
Nani status is the 7 footer injured?
How about Lilian Marville? He's the only other one who didn't get any floor time. I think that I saw him in street clothes alongside Nanji before the game.

I was impressed particularly with EOE driving hard to the rim multiple times.

Everybody played with high intensity and fast pace; hope it holds up against A10 defenders.

I think someone mentioned that Marville had an upper body injury before the Villanova exhibition. You could check back. But I remember Okojie—precaution, Valentine—sick, Marville—upper body injury (not a hand).
