Yes it is good. Especially in a year when donations have been down in academia across the board - this is a solid posting by the Administration.

The numbers for Mason are a little different than my previous post, but they're pretty close. It does give some sense of how we're doing compared to other schools in the state--much better than ODU, JMU, worse than vcu (probably a med school effect, not a basketball effect), about half of Va Tech's donations, and about 20% of UVA.

The numbers for Mason are a little different than my previous post, but they're pretty close. Only about $14 million off of vcu's number. I think when we see the effect of Cabrera's and Edward's impact over the next few years we will see that gap close. I was shocked to see JMU's level given their age. I thought they were higher.

Viva Cabrera!

Despite everything that Merten did to stabilize Mason's finances and expand the campus, I can't help but think that Cabrera is exactly what the university needs to take the next step and completely eliminate the "commuter school" stigma.

No more stodgy academics, thank you very much.

Agreed. It's been said before around here that Mason has been lucky to have the right leadership at the right time. Johnson, Merten, and now Cabrera each had/have the skill set to move the University to the next level from where it started at the beginning of their respective tenures.
