2024 PF Thomas Sorber @ThomasSorber_ of @ARyanbasketball // @TeamFinalEYBL has been offered by George Mason. #MadeDIFFERENT

Caleb Williams is a 6’7” W/F out of Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. He’s a very high-feel, high-IQ player with versatility and a silky-smooth jumper. He’s been associated with a lot of winning over the last calendar year: Nike EYBL champion (16U) with Team Takeover, DC State champion and Mid-Atlantic regular season and tournament champion with Sidwell Friends. Mason offered Williams back in the middle of June. He’s also been offered by the likes of Michigan, Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and many more, so it will be an uphill battle.

Here's a newly-published complete breakdown of his game, equipped with nearly 70 video clips, detailed statistics, and tons of insight into his game, intangibles, and coachability: Caleb Williams Player Evaluation.

LOVE the fact that just about everyone we are going after has high marks. The days of recruiting against Sister Teresa's School for the Blind and Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow seem to be over.

Even the ones who maybe we back off of or end up going elsewhere for the most part have solid offers usually.

Always an exception to the rule, but mason is definitely competing against peers and above majority of the time.

With the portal now being such a vital part of recruiting, it makes sense to stay engaged with kids even if it might be a stretch to land them. If you miss the first time, there’s always a chance to catch them on the rebound lol

Not wanting to be Debbie Downer, and I REALLY hope you are right, but that will depend upon KE having success, along with his successors having success, who will have to have the right ADs to keep the school facilities, finances, etc. competitive with other top tier schools.

I dunno about facilities argument in relation to Mason. Kids will come and visit a party, but they commit to a rager. And that's what we are going to have here soon.

Maybe, but haven't folks on this board been saying for ages that we need an updated arena, practice facility, etc. in order to compete for recruits? And isn't that what coaches use, in part, to encourage kids to sign?
I think so. Pretty sure, in fact.

Pretty sure we went to a Final Four with less....and that was bc Coach L was throwing a rage. If facilities were all of it, why isn't Florida winning it every year?

From NOVA Hoops - Ben Hammond, May 5, 2022:

https://novahoops.com/2021-2022-all-nova-sophomore-boys-team/

"When Darren Harris was lost for the season late with a wrist injury, Paul VI somehow barely missed a beat. That’s because Glenn Farello was able to turn to Hammond. The sub-six-foot guard delivered in a huge way with more playing time. A very good defender and ball-handler, Hammond also was able to contribute offensively–to say the least. He led PVI in scoring with 20 points in a big win over Gonzaga. In other playoff games he was able to feed the Panthers’ big offensive weapons, while still knocking down clutch shots as needed. Dug McDaniel will be a huge loss next year, but Hammond is a great guy to step right in and run the Panther attack."

I didn't say it was all of it. But you cannot say it doesn't play a part...how big a part depends on the kid.
And yes, we did go to the FF without it, but that was an outlier. Those guys, awesome as they were, were not being looked at by P5 conferences. A 4 or 5 ranked kid walks in, and everything else being equal, the facilities are sub-par, the odds break in the other direction.
