Johnson C .Smith is a small HBCU located in Charlotte which is partially funded by the Presbyterian Church.
There are members of the CIAA - the same Division 2 Conference as Bowie State.

Up until 1971 all HBCUs were members of the CIAA (North) or SIAA (South).
Then the larger members split off and upgraded to became D-1 programs with homes in either the MEAC or SWAC

The Atlantic 10 Conference had a first on Oct. 7 as it hosted a joint men’s and women’s basketball media day at District E in Washington D.C. which is adjacent to Capital One Arena, the site of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship.

The coaches recognized George Mason’s growth, by placing four players on preseason all-conference teams, the most of any program in Zahirah Walton (second team), Ta’Viyanna Habib (third team), Kennedy Harris (third team) and Nalani Kaysia (third team).

'We feel like we really took off at the end of last season,' coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis stated. 'We had a really historic season, a great run that ended a little abruptly and I think that's the fire and passion we've been able to practice and play with throughout the summer going into preseason. Speaking of the women’s team, are they going to hang a banner for the WBIT appearance?

I don’t like how the NCAA screwed around with the postseason by adding another tournament to compete with the NIT (which they bought on the men’s side but not the women’s). I have no idea if the WBIT is a better field than the NIT now and worthy of a banner or not and if the NIT has been relegated to the CBI and CIT dustbin of irrelevant tournaments. Looks like it is, but the history isn’t there.
