At the end of the summer tourneys, I put together my rankings of the players we were involved with. I know nothing. Interesting looking back seeing how things worked out… pretty pleased with the guys we landed.

1) Jaland Lowe - still open
2) Mike Williams - still open
3) Jace Posey - TCU

Honestly, didn’t think we had much chance with those top three.

4) Cameron Carr - still open
5) Emmanuel Ugbo - staying overseas
6) Austin Ball - Mason
7) Desmond White - Mason
8) Adrian Myers - decommitted from URI
9) Connor Dubsky - URI
10) Richard Barron - still open
11) Blake Barkley - still open
12) Tommy Humphries - Furman

@MasonFanatic's chart

1) when is the signing day that these offers become legally binding?
2) does one slot get saved for a grad transfer?
3) additional slots if
a) current 4th year players leave - hopefully to turn pro
b) underclassmen transfer out

between this list and last years' recruiting losses

Love these two signings and I'm excited about Fernandez and Dinkins but looking at this chart reminds me there's a very real chance we lose all 5 of this years starters next year. Hopefully Malik, Blake or Ronnie make a big step this year. Either way I think we're going to be relying heavily on the portal again next offseason unless Josh or Ticket decide to come back.

I think we’re gonna be young but at some point that’s unavoidable if you want to be able to recruit high-level HS players … you can get 1 or 2 guys out of the portal to supplement but the core of the roster going forward is Dinkins, Fernandez and Nnaji, and if you effectively recruit over them with transfers as sophomores they’re not gonna stick around.

EDIT: Of course that means those guys better pan out as expected or we’re gonna suck lol

We could use a one year wing next season though. Otherwise you’re going to have to have either Polite play off the ball (please no) or White and Ball will have to play a lot more minutes than they probably should as freshman.

Alternative possibility: Blake is ready to step in and play big minutes at the 4, which will have a starting lineup of Dinkins, Fernandez, Nnaji, Blake, and uh Henry?/Ojiako?/Transfer?

Still 2-3 spots for next season up for grabs. No sense in worrying about two seasons from now when we’ve got this season.

I'm buying Blake Jones stock now while it's still low as I think it has the potential to take off. He's listed 16 lbs heavier on the roster this year, which signals extra effort getting ready for the season.

He also flashed big-time in the Davidson game to end the season with 7 points on 3-3 shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 0 turnovers or fouls in 16 minutes. I think he may have had a block in that game too, but isn't showing up on the stats line. And I know one good run in limited minutes does not a career make, but it does show the potential is there if he can figure it our and put it together.

Jaland Lowe to Pitt … that’s two guards in this class who chose dogshit Jeff Capel over Kim English, pretty sure they’re gonna wind up regretting that decision

They will be in the transfer portal next year or the next

One could also interpret it as two kids who chose the ACC over the A10, no?

As for Blake Jones putting on 16 lbs, I'm pleasently surprised. I thought he was going to be one of those guys who struggled to add weight. If he takes a big step forward this season he could really be a difference maker for our squad.

Can't wait for the season to get under way.

I’ve never understood why anyone would knowingly choose to play for a team that has no chance of making the NCAA tournament just so you can say you play in a premier conference … like, what are the “bragging rights” when your friends and family watch your team get its a** kicked on national TV 20 times a year?

To each his or her own, I guess

Eemeli Yalaho, a 6'8" forward who played for the U18 Finnish National Team tweeted out that he received an offer from Mason. (h/t @ MasonHoops and/or Mason Recruiting)

This one is kind of interesting as Tennessee's starting PF is Olivier Nkamhoua who plays for the Finnish National team and would've been coached for two seasons by CKE. I wonder if there's any connection.

Any insight on that @Patriot8?
