Latest Bracketology has Dayton as a #5 seed and Richmond (automatic qualifier) as #12. Dayton is a lock to make the NCAAs at that seed. Maybe if Mason wins the A10 and beats Richmond in the finals, the conference gets 3 teams?

No way Richmond’s getting an at-large bid. Best OOC wins are UNLV & Charlotte- yuck. Even the win over Dayton isn’t moving that dial.

A10 is, at best, just a two bid league.

Dayton is the only at-large team. If they win the A10 we are going to be a one-bid league. The conference really shot itself in the foot once conference play started. If we wanted to have two guaranteed at-large bids the top four should have been Dayton, St. Joes, Mason, and either Bonaventure or Duquesne or its fine that Richmond is there.

GIVING DAY 2023
Somehow the A10 has to find a way to schedule top 50 NET teams and win many of them to get more at larges. The A10 has several top 100 NET teams, yet thats nowhere good enough to making the NCAA tournament.

Scheduling is a topic I can beat the drum on in the off-season though.

Keep in mind that Bonaventure, Mason and St. Joes were all flirting with top 50 NET and then they lost a combined 22 conference games so far. Loyola and Richmond and even vcu being as good as they are in conference has hurt our confeeence at-large resume

Rankings changes due to Mason's last week of play...

• Dayton drops to #21 from #16
• LoChi gets one Top 25 vote

Mason knocks off Dayton and Dayton falls five spots. Nice for Mason's résumé in general to beat a Top 25 team. However, the effect of our win is debatable—is it good for us that Dayton fell only five places down. Does it say that we're weak or strong?

LoChi pounds us and gets into the Top 25 mix as an honorable mention. LoChi whomps a team that just bonked a Top 25 team. Is that a positive for Mason that beating us with such a thump is a feather in LoChi's cap?

Perhaps it's merely a testament to Mason being a work-in-progress..

...just sayin'.

GIVING DAY 2023
I remember when we used to play them, but ODU has a new coach

I have a friend who did his grad degree at ODU around the time their football team really took off. He's been so depressed about ODU sports since and is happy Jeff Jones is finally gone, but he says the picture down there is pretty grim. The athletic finances are in shambles and the only reason Jeff Jones is gone is becasue he had to retire due to health reasons. The school didn't have the money to buy him out and hire someone decent.

Currently watching the Dayton-Loyola game and the foul discrepancy is 9 (Loyola) to 1 (Dayton). Still a 3 point game though.
