Queens College will spend part of November in the DMV
vs GMU on 11/26
look for a game vs Georgetown at Capital One Center as part of the Jamaica Classic Tournament during the same week they play GMU

Is this what we know so far? (And their NET rankings last year)

Auburn (13)
Boston College (141)
Belmont (79) / Tarleton St (214)
Buffalo (120) / Drake (85) / Howard (241) /Wyoming (58)
Queens College (N/A)
Toledo (86)
ODU (201)

Winning and getting to play the better teams in the Paradise Jam would certainly help the schedule look a bit stronger. Hopefully Queens can come in and have some surprise success akin to Bellarmine.
Completely agree that hopefully the better teams get Mason in the Paradise Jam to make this schedule look better. Last thing we need is Howard/Tarteton State/ODU/JMU to be a drain on the OOC.

This is the type of non-con we should be shooting for. Obviously replace the A10 schools with other conference teams of a similar quality — but if temple, who is by no means a juggernaut over the last 5 years, can manage to put this together, we should at least be able to get in the neighborhood of it.
One really bad game and some really good teams. WOW! Lasalle and st joes are two of the four weak parts to the schedule.

Philly Big 5 plays every year with the 5 team agreement - note that they also added in Drexel

imagine if we could get Maryland, Georgetown, Howard, and American every year

They get Villanova because of the Big 5. Vanderbilt is not good. Ole Miss is terrible.

The h&h with vcu is really good. Solid neutral site tourneys.

Think about it this way: we’ve got SLU, Dayton, and vcu on the road as well as a home-and-home with Loyola (last season NET 28). That is at least 4 Q1 opportunities, if not 5 depending on how good Loyola is this season (my guess is they will at least be top 75).

We’ve got Auburn and an undisclosed future Big 12 member (Houston or Cincy) on the road, that’s two more Q1 opportunities. For at least 6 Q1 games.

Last season we had 3 total…

The trick is to win some of these and go X-0 in Q4 (ideally X-0 in our Q3).

Pretty solid floor with plenty of upside for a few of those teams.

Agreed, in a perfect world if you can split those Q1s and not lose any of your 3/4 you are in the conversation.

Completely agree that this should be the end goal. That said, its always going to have big5 schools so they have it a little bit more tailor made for them.

I do think that the solution going forward is going to be more neutral games and less home or away games. The issue is being invited to those neutral games and not being seen as a "risk" of some sort.

Probably already mentioned, but, the consolidation of the P5 into super conferences is likely to further reduce opportunities for Q1 games. This is assuming they add more conference games to their schedule and thus have fewer games outside of their conference.

The handful of games we don’t know yet will really make or break this schedule. I don’t think they need to be power 5 teams, but if we can find some games against programs in that 80/110 range that should be improved, those are winnable games that can get us in the at-large picture

I would like to see games against the top half of the AAC, Mountain West, or Missouri Valley.

As @GMUgemini noted, our strength of schedule likely will hinge on whether the A-10 lives up to expectations OOC or steps on its collective pecker again. We need Dayton and SLU (and … gag … vcu to a lesser degree) to be as good as advertised or better because that will lift everyone else’s numbers and provide Q1 opportunities that the P5s are trying to hoard.

This is why Mason joined the A-10. Hopefully next season we’ll finally have a team good enough to capitalize on it.

According to D1 Dockets :

The D1 Docket (See pinned tweet Docket link)

@TheD1Docket

24 of 363 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball teams have released their 2022-23 non-conference schedule.

I believe we have 5 games left to announce
likely 4 home games and 1 away game
and hoping for no more Quad 4 teams
and at least 1 Top 50 team

OOC schedule to date
not 100% accurate as it reflects the end of last season

154 George Mason

11 11/7 Auburn
216 11/18 Boston College Away Holiday Tournament
? 11/19 Holiday Tournament Away
? 11/20 Holiday Tournament Away
300+ 11/26 Queens College Home
67 12/3 Toledo Home
298 12/6 UMES Home
224 TBD ODU Away

hoping the rest of the schedule is teams better than #154
hard to get non-GMU alumni to come to these games
doesn't help with an at large bid

I will probably go to the UMES game because those tickets will be easy to get. Maybe Toledo.
I plan on attending Toledo and UMES and will skip Queens College as it is over the Thanksgiving Holiday and I will be gone.
I believe we have 5 OOC games left to be booked with at least 4 of them home games (assuming Mason has a 16 home game contract with Eagle Bank Management)
Hoping that all of the home games are teams at 154 or above
