I went to the Mason/vcu game in Pittsburgh last year, there were empty seats there too. I have seen ad's for the Big East tournament at MSG for people to buy tickets. That is what happens when you have a 20,000 seat arena. At least GW, GMU and vcu has no excuse to not make the trip. Philly is 2 1/2 hours from DC, or an Amtrak ride and 2 stop Metro ride away from Capital One Arena.

Only you would complain about a conference tournament being in Mason's backyard. Who knows if this will happen again (the next 3 conference tournaments are in Brooklyn).

All I’m saying is a conference like the A10 playing in a 20,000 seat arena looks bad on TV. Going back a few years they played continually at Boadwalk Hall in Atlantic City. That seemed to make sense.

Would the attendance be any better if we were top 3 in A10? That's one thing we have not given the community a chance to react to. I don't reside in the area, but have made it up to several games in each of last 2 seasons.

Yeah I mean we were packing the place in 2011 against teams like Hofstra. I'm sure against teams like UMass and Richmond the place would be sold out if we were out in front of the pack. Attendance seems to be up slightly this year; hopefully we don't let the floor fall out and keep at least the same level of interest going into next season. I've brought some friends to games that hadn't been in years and they were all impressed with the game day experience so hopefully that helps get some casual fans to come back once they've seen it.

Student attendance still sucks a**, although I was surprised by the attendance against vcu and how many signs and shit students made.

Why do we have to wait until after next year to freak out? We are in year three of DP with all of his guys and already people have gone from predicting us to be a tourney team to suggesting we may not even be .500 next season. Fans, feel free to freak out, be angry and question the process. This loss to Fordham was a joke. If you’re not freaking out about next year yet, I’m questioning if you’re even watching.

Our defense is awful. I’ve been asking for some type of pressure defense for 3 seasons but ya’ll say we have to learn how to play halfcourt D first, when’s that going to happen? But nope, let’s trot back after a made basket with our backs to our opponent. Let’s continue to sag off our men around the 3 point line to double the post. Let’s contiue to go under ball screens. Let’s continue to only make adjustments into the nubby match up zone. Guys, this is coaching. I know it gets everyone upset when DP is questioned but it’s time for everyone to hold him accountable, including himself.

I sure hope we put on a show for everyone in EBA today. I’m tired of being embarrassed by GW.

To be fair, I think we just don’t have the horses to do some of what you ask, particularly press. Meanwhile, a very similar defensive philosophy is working very well over in Charlottesville.

I also think next year’s team still projects to be better than last year’s 20 win team, so I haven’t given up all hope of seeing us in the tournament. A lot will depend on Reuter and if JDS is as ready for college ball as I think he is.

Today will be very telling to me. How do we respond to losing an inexcusable game in an empty gym? Do we lose another game to a bottom dweller in the A-10? Does homecoming provide more pressure to these kids than motivation? Can we take 1 from our “rival”?
