"A10 Announces Five Patriots’ Games on Facebook Live" by Chris Metsala

In a fairly progressive move for the A10, the conference has announced that select games will be shown on Facebook Live, including five Mason games (three away, including at vcu). The feed will be from MASN simulcasts for two of the games, let’s hope the other three aren’t broadcast by a staffer with an iPhone! […]

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm likely one of the few people in the world that doesn't have a Facebook account. I'm not worried about the Mason home games---I'll see those in person. But does this mean I will have to sacrifice my principles and get a Facebook account in order to see the away games ? :bricks:

What's the matter with TV or internet streaming!!

Easier and cheaper that paying a fee and creating a login for any other online viewing option.

But I'm not sure you'll be required to join Facebook, probably... but not positive.

From my experience, if you don't log in, and look at a public page (music artist for example), and you don't scroll fast enough, you will be forced to log in.

Our game at Dayton is currently scheduled for TWC Sportschannel. I wonder if Facebook Live will be a simulcast of that broadcast or if MASN/CSN will pick up that game.

Jesus, even my mom and grandma have facebook accounts. Might take you all of 5 seconds to get free streaming access to these Mason games.

I've avoided Facebook all these years not because of a lack of ability to create an account, but as a matter of principle. As Betty White said on SNL some years ago when there was a movement on Facebook to have her host the show, "It sounds like a real waste of time!". I prefer to waste my time on Mason message boards and checking my fantasy football team.

Ok no one said you had to go look up your old high school girlfriend on it, it's no different then other video streaming platforms. It's amazing what people complain about here, we used to be lucky to have any access to watch away games back in the day.

GIVING DAY 2023
Back in my day, you'd pay good money for a frozen pixelated image of Cam Long shot on a VHS camcorder.

Back in my day, we had to look closely between the squiggly lines to catch a far too brief boob shot on a scrambled movie channel.

Now there is porn literally at your fingertips.

Oh how far we have come.

Hard to believe the A10 media rights agreement would allow unlimited FB casting. Makes no sense.

There's no way to stop anyone from doing it. My brother-in-law FB Lives some football for us -- the only limit being his battery life. Can't beat 'em, have an official one?

Obviously not all games rights were bought up, they only buy a select amount of games. FB live streaming fills in the gaps. A great move by the A-10 to keep the product available to the selection committee and fans.

Answer to my own question. Amazing what happens when you read the release.
The games will be simulcasts of regional sports network productions or school-produced streams for the A-10 Network.

Yeah! I can maintain my principles and stay off the Facebook grid! That's what I get for just skimming the original release.
