Game 6: Manhattan College, Saturday, Nov 29th, 4 PM, NO TV

Well that was surreal. Glad I went.

We should have lost. Running that high post garbage when our bigs were crushing them inside was ridiculous. As was using Copes as the "offensive guy" in an offense/defense sub.

But man, the players and fans needed this. PH was sick down the stretch and Jalen was amazing all day. Congrats to the team. (And for Bill making Deadspin)

Manhattan's coach had the same reaction Hewitt did- he didn't move
Gonna have to agree with gmu2006. I'm actually okay with Paul Hewitt's reaction. We should have lost, that's why half the crowd left with 1:00 remaining. It was a spectacular jackpot lottery shot made by Jenkins. Hewitt knows that he got lucky tonight. Maybe it's a sign Hewitt will change his priorities and realize he should not just wait around for his next big fat paycheck.

More concerned about letting a team that doesn't normally shoot the 3 very well go for almost 50% from behind the arc (8-17).

I'm happy for the players. They exploded in happiness. I hope they keep that emotion regardless of how big of a drain hewitt will be going forward.

My reaction to those people who left this game with a minute remaining: Why did you even bother coming?

I don't know, why do you find the need to lecture people who left early? I thought the game was out of reach, so I left early. I'll check with you next time to ensure I don't get my fan card revoked.

Obviously, the game was not out of reach!

Great for these kids to get another win.

What a game for Jenkins. The game winner was obviously mind-blowing, but even without his stat line was 24 points, 7 boards, and 2 blocks.

Marquise Moore with 11 scores the second most of his career.

Thompson, Gujanicic, Copes, Gray, Porter, Jackson, & Edwards go a combined 3 for 28. Ouch.

And, what a game for Patrick Holloway!

Technically, you're right. But I sure hope Hewitt doesn't rely on the desperation 75-foot game-winning heave as a winning strategy going forward.

We'll have better luck subbing in Copes for offense.

Do you remember when Dean Smith's Tar Heels forced overtime against Duke (and won) after being down 8 points with 17 seconds remaining in regulation? And, this was prior to the 3-pt. FG.

I like watching the coaches after the shot - you have Hewitt that doesn't move, you have most of the assistants that start to run down the court, but contain themselves, and then you have Skeeters who doesn't give a F and runs all the way down to celebrate.

Our defense actually seems to be getting better, but there continues to be head-scratching lapses on the perimeter.
I will say, we do seem to be playing some sort of more complex match up zone, at least when Thompson is in the game. That does sometimes make it difficult to find the shooter.
At least we seem to be mixing it up better on defense as well.
