Goodbye Tyler Kolek

I would have a hard time putting a Kolek, Miller et al into a Mason HofF.

Not only should you be setting a performance achievement for your sport, but it should also be about dedication to the University. Leaving to go play elsewhere, and even worse now for $, doesn't show that commitment to the university brand and culture. (And I do realize we may never be able to meet these standards again). The only time the Hancocks, Koleks etc will ever mention Mason is when someone reminds them and they "oh yeah...I was there."

On the other side the Rudolph Jones situation vs say.... George F*ckin Evans....is just the result of a half a** athletic department....

It may be old school thinking but it's just the way I see it.

umm are you forgetting Miller was at Mason for 3 years?? very weird to group him with Kolek as someone who just used Mason as a stepping stone when he spent the majority of his college career at the school

HOF is a no for me. But recognizing/mentioning them with the years they were here wouldn't hurt at all. It only makes our program look stronger.

Jordan would have stayed if Paulson hadn't gotten fired. Kolek would have stayed at least another year too.

There was a tweet that said something like "George Mason had Josh Oduro, Jordan Miller and Tyler Kolek at the same time." Jordan commented on it saying "Paulsen got fired too soon." That made me believe Jordan would have stayed.

"He was content at the school until George Mason fired Paulsen in March 2021. Soon, Kolek had second thoughts and entered the transfer portal.

“He never would’ve left George Mason,” Kevin Kolek said. “He would’ve stayed there.”

No. I just know when you visit the ESPN, NBA.com etc....aint no mention of "The Mason" in his bio.

More importantly....he didn't do anything when he was here. NO POY, no this, no that, no post season. He earned 3RD team all A-10 his junior year as the zenith of his Mason career.

Yes he was a good player....but HOF worthy?

So yes he could be grey area...and obviously others can disagree. He and others should mentioned as they did spend time at Mason.

As I recall, Mason was a "National Power" in "Forensics" and "Skeet Shooting" in the late Seventies and Early Eighties ....I can hear the echoes of "We're Number One, We're Number One" in the old "P.E. Building".....

WTF? Dave Paulsen is a "low-rent" day modern-day veraion of Lefty Driesell: Like Lefty, he recruited few pro players (Buck Williams, Len Bias, Albert King) but HAD NO SIGNIFICANT major College Success. .....Meh'.

You're being a bit hard on Lefty---he was elected into the NCAA basketball HOF!

Well, I said a "low rent" version.......they BOTH recruited NBA players.....Muscala, Jordan Miller and Kolek are not Buck Williams or John Lucas, etc......But won't matter to a borderline recruit, who'll just know that Dave Paulsen recruited players that made it to the NBA .
