For most of us, going to college delayed economic gratification until getting post-graduation job. Certainly for many, immediate gratification occurs while attending college if you are enjoying the educational, cultural, and social experiences you are exposed to.

It would be extremely financially irresponsible for them to not capitalize on these few money-earning years that they have. It’s not really about immediate vs delayed gratification, is it? If they’re lucky enough to earn a 2-way contract with the NBA, they will make about $500,000. If a guy like Mincy can get $2 mil, free tuition, free room and board, then he should take it.

In one breath we will say that Mason doesn’t get the respect it deserves in college basketball and then in the next we will say that our all-conference guys can’t contribute at a higher level. He’s a good player here, there, or anywhere. Mincy transferred up from Presbyterian and got more minutes here than he did there.

The reason why he was on South Carolina radar in the first place was he dropped 27 points on the gamecocks while at Presbyterian two years ago.
