GIVING DAY 2023
Ugggh - you just made me super nervous that he ends up at vcu and torches us next year
Lol I mean I'm not sure he is a vcu type player or what his asks are, I just think he could be a fit for the type of league that the A10 is.

For what its worth he absolutely torches GW, so I could see Caputo trying to get him just so that doesn't happen, lol.

GIVING DAY 2023
From some conversations I've had over the last week, mainly in Pittsburgh:

-Multiple individuals said that Jahari, BOC and Kanga have already signed on for next season.
-Most people I talked to said it will be significantly harder to keep Kory than Riley, though Kory likes the area and staff and will genuinely think about staying
-The reason given for Riley sticking around is his foot speed and defensive limitations have not led to P5s buying in. He would require good money, but there seems to be a general thought that his offensive output wouldn't translate the full way to P5 levels consistently and his defense would become an even bigger issue then.
-We will see what happens on the wings this year. Pendergrass is expected to play a similar role to Kanga and the staff wants to at least provide Booker with the opportunity to get an increased role this offseason. With BOC and Jahari likely back, plus Peyton Miller in as a freshman, there may be only one pure guard spot open to be targeted in portal madness this year.
Interesting info, but can’t really see Pendergrass playing the same role as Kanga unless that means coming off the bench and playing 10-20 minutes most games. Their skill sets are completely different — Shane can handle the ball and score on all three levels as a legit stretch 4.

Speaking of which, finding a starting 4 has to be item No. 1 on the staff’s to-do list for the portal. Dola turning out to be mostly a dud kneecapped the roster.

Regardless, bringing back both bigs and at least two high-quality veteran guards would be a 10000% better start than last offseason.

It means coming off the bench and playing 10-20 minutes. That's what I meant by role.

Rumors are Justyn Fernandez isn't tough enough for Tony and doesn't like his defense or lack there of. Not going to get into a debate about it, just what i've heard.

What's Jalens deal? With a fired coach at Cincy any thoughts of him coming back? Any rumors on this? May have to do some digging into that. Wonder what his market is? If he got paid last year would he take a cut to come back and play for Tony again feeling comfortable even if it's less money? Tbd....

I can't comment much on the 2nd part because I have no idea, but the first part sounds similar to what I have heard over the months. And the defense part is what we have seen.

Granted he has actually been healthy and got an opportunity at Delaware so he will be the right fit somewhere, but he may not be a fit for us. Would not be surprised if hes in the A10 much like when I predicted Rafael Castro.

Yeah wouldn't shock me if he ends up at GW just for the sheer fact that they like to Troll Mason.

Knowing Mincy had a broken hand and fats out with a leg injury, I would have declined an NIT invitation.

Having broken my wrist with a multiple fracture in my early 20's. The only thing that overusing it in strenuous excercise did for me was aggravating more and expedite on the onset the arthritis in that wrist quicker.

Skinn propensity to let his play his guard exorbitant minutes is disconcerting.

Again, I would much he let the players heal than injured players play.
Some here are acting as if Korys thumb was barely hanging on to his hand and he some how managed to not miss a game due to some duct tape attaching it to his hand. Im not buying that drama. I credit Kory tremendously for his toughness as a player. Having myself played with a fractured non shooting finger, and a sprained thumb joint, my guess is he has a ligament issue. I dont think a complete break occurred based on his usage of left hand. And he turned it over a few times last which I don't blame on the injury.

Watch Spiders here. Richmond kid, but doesn't fit vcu mold. Would be prime replacement for Will Johnston and AJ Lopez on their squad.

No but it is pretty obvious it affected his shooting.

And given our injuries to two other guards we were asking him and Long to play more minutes than they should have been if everyone was healthy. They definitely wore down in the back half of the season because of it.

The NIL opportunity with the insurance company Kasier Permanente located in Fairfax can help seal the deal.
Ironically, his parent's house is only 2 miles away from the location on Burke Centre Parkway across from the Walmart!!

Fun obscure fact: the leading scorer in Lake Braddock High School history is: Hubert Davis.

Not transfer portal news, but we have 2 freshman coming in for the class of 2026:

1. 6'8 Shane Pendergrass
2. 6'3 Peyton Miller
Let’s not forget Ryan Preston-Mendy, who redshirted this year.

I really like his tape, as it looks like he has lots of athleticism, but can also stroke it from 3. Which is great to see for someone 6’9”/10”.

But it’s just tape, which doesn’t show the misses of course.

I would hope he replaces Stas’ minutes if he decides to transfer elsewhere.

I wonder how the two of them did against each other in practice…

The other thing I would say about Jamie is that he grew up playing Baseball with two players on the Mason Baseball Team.

Jake Drumm and Jack McCarthy

Not to Mention teaming up with Greg Jones Jr in AAU to win the Under armour league national championship.

Sounds like he was destined to be a patriot. Let’s bring him home

I sit one and a half sections over from the Mason bench about seven or eight rows up. I watched Kory closely the moment he ran off the court from his injury. He was cradling the injured thumb-hand in his other hand like a newly hatched baby bird. It looked to me that Kory's thumb was dangling from his wrist. That indicates severe dislocation. I thought at that moment, "Kory is done for the season." I was stunned and amazed that he returned to that game. Tough kid.

Prepare to make a dramatic purchase, @GSII.

My seats are about one and a half sections from the bench, seven or eight rows up. I watched Kory very closely as he ran off the court the moment upon injuring his thumb. Kory briskiy walked toward the locker room cradling the injured thumb-hand like a newly hatched baby bird. Kory's thumb appeared to be dangling from his wrist. That indicates to me a severe dislocation with torn ligaments. My thought right then was, "Kory's season is over." I was stunned and amazed that Kory actually returned to the game. Tough kid!
