Thus the need to be innovative. Guys like Zach and Maddox needed to get more shots, imo. This year we have 2 PG's of which Mincy can be the shooter. So why the stagnation tonight vs a much smaller team? Was it coaching?
Kory's finger is broken! Losing Fatt and Kory kills you. I mean the bigger question is how did Kory do what he did vs St Louis and vcu because it was said he needs surgery tonight after the game now that the season is over the truth of how bad it was came out. Having O'Connor Fatt and a Healthy Kory changes everything. With all the injuries I think Tony did a pretty solid job!! So Long tried to win it by himself and almost did it. If Kory doesn't drop the ball twice in the lane they would have had a chance to win but you could tell his hand was just gone at that point.

Mincy played 39 minutes last night with a hand that is hurt badly enough to require surgery. What a warrior. I don’t care if the guy missed every shot he took, that is the type of toughness, selflessness and competitive spirit you need in your program.

He literally left it all on the floor — if he takes a bag from somebody and it’s one-and-done for him at Mason, no complaints from me.

Knowing Mincy had a broken hand and fats out with a leg injury, I would have declined an NIT invitation.

Having broken my wrist with a multiple fracture in my early 20's. The only thing that overusing it in strenuous excercise did for me was aggravating more and expedite on the onset the arthritis in that wrist quicker.

Skinn propensity to let his play his guard exorbitant minutes is disconcerting.

Again, I would much he let the players heal than injured players play.

I have no idea of what the GMU NIL Budget (Revenue Share plus Outside NIL) is and how it is allocated. But I'd bet that both Mincy and Allenspach - as the 2 All-League members of this team are getting and fielding offers from other schools. Whether or not they accept is unknown and contingent on a number of factors.

Last Season GMU lost all but 2 players (and the grandfathered walk-ons), at this point I'd bet that the only assured returnees are the 2 grandfathered walk-ons and CTS's son.
They can have Riley, no D and very little effort, we need to keep Kory, Kanga and O connor, everyone else can go.Assuming Long is ineligble.

I don't do X or anything else on social media. I'm hoping you guys will post updates on here.
There will be discussion of who we are after but please do not expect that every tweet is going to be posted on here. We try to avoid that as it clogs the boards and we try to keep the discussions going not just cut and pastes. :)

I am tracking Steve Curran's activity. From what I've seen so far, I have no doubt Mason will pull some really good additions.

I like the type of players he's canvasing.

Pretty sure the staff expects Long to get a waiver and have one more year. Also Hill might have eligibility remaining b/c he started at a JUCO. Keeping both of those guys would be massive for continuity and obviously production.

From some conversations I've had over the last week, mainly in Pittsburgh:

-Multiple individuals said that Jahari, BOC and Kanga have already signed on for next season.
-Most people I talked to said it will be significantly harder to keep Kory than Riley, though Kory likes the area and staff and will genuinely think about staying
-The reason given for Riley sticking around is his foot speed and defensive limitations have not led to P5s buying in. He would require good money, but there seems to be a general thought that his offensive output wouldn't translate the full way to P5 levels consistently and his defense would become an even bigger issue then.
-We will see what happens on the wings this year. Pendergrass is expected to play a similar role to Kanga and the staff wants to at least provide Booker with the opportunity to get an increased role this offseason. With BOC and Jahari likely back, plus Peyton Miller in as a freshman, there may be only one pure guard spot open to be targeted in portal madness this year.

Thanks for sharing this useful background. It's one of the main reasons for keeping up with the message board.

Im making a somewhat educated guess that both will be in the portal soon.

DHS took a personal laave absence from Georgetown 6 games into the season. I would not be surprised that he shows up like Jahari Long.

Lamothe left Maryland, went to NC A-T so showcase his skills with more PT, then transferred to UNCW and was out through late January with an injury. He is just rounding into playing shape.

Others I'm interested with established Skinn connections.

justyn Fernandez

After leaving Mason then going to Providence and suffering a knew injury, he finally got his game back at Delaware.. scoring 17 PPG including a going on a tear the last 12 games scoring 20+ ppg and shooting 41% from 3.

Greg Jones jr - 2 time Patriot league defensive team

All these guys played together in AAU or at Maryland 2 years ago. The chemistry is already established.

If we get a couple of them. It will only help the team be a cohesive unit from the jump.
Hoop there it is!

Fernandez back in the portal

Pendergrass is going to have same impact as Kanga this year.

Fun fact: Kanga led the A10 in rebounds per minute.

Probably led the A10 in Fouls per minute too. Jokes aside, Kanga has huge upside. If he can have a little more self control on defense and develop his offense skillset, I can see him being an All conference player.

If he is completely healthy, it looks like he would be a huge get. But I don't think he would return to Mason. Too much old baggage??
Hes completely healthy and I would take him in a heartbeat. But if we want guys who plays defense, I'm not sure he is quite a fit for Mason.

That being said, I could see him getting multiple A10 type offers (Richmond, GW, St Joes).

Thanks for sharing this. One of the main reasons why I go to the conf tournament (besides to watch Mason) is to get information like this from conversations. The comment about Riley makes a lot of sense and its good news if BOC Jahari and Kanga are planning to come back and/or signed already.

Hopefully Kory likes Mason a lot and will stick around.
