Was the timing of the anthem to do with the NIT or ESPN? Seems so weird that the team was introduced and didn't come out. What happened there? Players wanting an additional check first?

How was the outreach or on campus marketing? Did student government plug the game? Flyers?

I think there was some sort of Instagram post but other than that there was nothing. My interactions with university admin haven't been the greatest and there seems to be real contention between faculty and administrators just on things like when classes are scheduled and room availability. From what I gather, Mason spends about what is expected relative to their size, but Mason seriously needs an identity. The Final Four Run was 20 years ago and pardon my French but a lot of the players and students now only know it as some trivia fact and frankly just don't give a shit. I can't blame them, but coach is building something here and hope the university appropriately supports so we move farther and farther away from the absolute stink of the Hewitt and Paulsen eras.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that the administration is far more interested in academics than they are sports. Of course that is the way it should be.
But sports, in our case basketball, is what often gives a university it's national identity among the populace at large, as well as student and alumni pride...and money.
A rising tide lifts all boats, and it seems to me that a top flight academic university bolstered by a highly competitive basketball team would be the administration's goal. Sadly, I don't think it is.

What? So the BOV meeting where Marvin made a presentation about updating facilities with strong support from the BOV was a nothing burger? Isn't there a new baseball stadium coming? I think the tide is turning. But we cant have giant pussys on the mens bball team.

The biggest issue is the Shifted landscapes of DC every 4 years. Some years it's all in on academics, we are now back in the landscape where science and math and education in general is not valued. So sports would be nice to pick up that new void. I think to be honest a well rounded school at everything a college does is the best approach instead of going all in on only one aspect of it. Granted JMU academics have tanked and they have gone all in on Football and it's been going very well for them. SO who knows.......

Class of 2028 here. Honestly disappointing to see a couple players who clearly don't care at all and hope coach tells them they can look elsewhere this offseason for somewhere else to play (Allenspach, Troutman as well but I think he's done anyways). The team ended in a postseason but would rather have not lost to that disgusting institution in Lynchburg and their bigoted fanbase.

At the start of the game I loudly said " I don't see how any self respecting Black person could play for or attend Jerry Falwell University". The Liberty fans sitting next to me got up and moved - without saying a word .
Christians come in all colors. What a crude comment that is.

May be it is you who needs some Jesus in your life.
