I’ve got two wild ideas.
First: Tanking
what if mid-majors intentionally tanked for a year to stack their NIL budget and go all-in the next season with double the firepower?
Second: NIL draft
Each pick would come with a set NIL value, so players know what they’re getting, and schools know what they’re committing to. It’d be like the MLB draft—slot values for each round—and everyone works within their budget.
Smaller programs wouldn’t be forced into bidding wars we can’t win. Instead, we could participate in the later rounds, where the NIL values are more affordable, or maybe even have a separate lower-tier draft.
NOTE- I know both these ideas are not feasible for many reasons. Im obviously just bored in the offseason, trying to think outside the box
