I thought Blake had committed to Colorado and Tomlinson's first job when he was hired was to go to Australia and turn him to us???
Not sure if that’s true, but I’m happy to have him! He can really drain threes!

What a game. I still hate Maryland but this game helped with some closure on getting over the previous losses and the lack of willingness from Maryland to play us. We need the Patriot Platoon back and they need to take lessons from the Maryland student section. Those were some rowdy kids and I loved their chants. Their stadium was nice too, even the sh*tty seats had a good view of the court because of the semi overlap of the sections. Their seats were roomy and comfortable too. I hope our admin does their homework when looking to build a new facility or revamp EBA.
I have been saying this for years we don't have chants and doc nix and the students are not coordinated. how hard can this be...hold up signs directing what to do or something

I'm going to donate $71 to the athletic department to celebrate Mason's first ever victory over Maryland. Hopefully a few others will do it so that the AD cannot tie my snark here back... :)

GIVING DAY 2023
few things

-After Wahab got an easy layup on Oduro, they buckled down and really made him uncomfortable in the post. The doubling was great and the rotations out of the double were also on point. Reese played more minutes and looked better than Wahab and I think they wanted more athleticism to defend against Mason.
- At the end of the 1st half, Cooper just took over with a big 3, banked 2, and hitting a 3 and another 2 in the 2nd half. It looks like he scored 10 points in a row and after a rough first half he just took over. 5 at the end of the 1st and 5 in the beginning of the second half.
- I don't know how much more I can gush about Josh Oduro offensively. His footwork and ability to take guys off the dribble has vastly improved.
-Ticket continues to be everywhere on the court, had a nice block in transition and a key three pointer with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd half and crashed the glass with two Maryland players off an Oduro three point attempt.
- 7 of 8 from the line last night and 50% from 3. Incredible
-Tighter rotation, 6 guys 20 minutes+ 4 guys 30 minutes plus with XJ playing 28 minutes
-Late in the 2nd half Cooper was playing point guard with Schwartz Oduro Henry and Gaines on the floor. Interesting

Trying to break out of the funk that this morning's news has put me in.

Everyone has pretty much covered all the good stuff, but it's just great to see our program relevant again. It's not just beating Maryland, it's that we were the better team. Our transfers are studs. Oduro is a legit POY candidate. We have depth. We have shooters. We have size. We are a team built for success.

We will stub our toe at some point and take a step back - all teams do, but this is a team built for a legit A10 run. Hopefully we can keep it going Friday because I'm interested to see if we can get any top 25 votes.

I am going to get crucified for this and I know @Petey Buckets disagrees with me... but we have 2 better POY options than Body By Oduro this year... Schwartz (he is going to score a metric f**k ton in conference and if his 3ball% stays high his numbers might be super crazy) and Gaines (DPOY candidate that will also avg close to a double double while locking down the teams best 2-4 night in night out)

I feel like all three will be all-conference somewhere (and yes the fact that Schwartz is up over 50% from 3 on a decently high volume is nuts)...and then there's Cooper just sitting there getting it done. This team is a hell of a lot of fun.

The great thing is, they'll all have their nights. Oduro will be automatic buckets against small teams like he was in the first 3. We'll need to lean on Schwartz, Cooper, and Ticket against frontcourts like the Bonnies and Rhode Island where Oduro might struggle. This is what being a good basketball team feels like! We don't need to argue about who the "best" player is because different guys will be better for different situations.

Before our last basket last night I think I tweeted "gotta be Cooper or Schwartz here" because Oduro had been struggling. Nope, Oduro on the block and hits a silly good shot, because he's just that gifted as a scorer. The fact that we had three different guys I trusted to go get us a crucial bucket... haven't felt like that in a very long time.

One of my favorite little things from last night was late in the 2nd half, XJ fouled out and Fatts was a constant pressure when we were bringing the ball up. They cleared everyone out and just gave it to Ticket knowing he could beat his big man off the dribble and get us safely up the floor. Worked like a charm! CKE was asked about it in the hallway after the game and just reaffirmed that Ticket is a 5-way player.

This was SUCH a smart play. Kim English. That is all.
