Yeah but vcu fans will buy a ton of tickets that Mason alum won't able to buy last minute, which is typically the case for homecoming game
That is the one pisser to the whole deal. Obnoxious twits the whole lot of em...

GIVING DAY 2023
Just noticed 5 Sunday games. Strange, we usually only have 1 at most.
3 of those are national TV games.

Of the 4 games we have on national TV, 3 are on Sunday and 1 on Wed night. Not much faith in our program.

This schedule is well-designed. Dayton, Bona and SLU at home while students are back on campus. Big home stand against UR and vcu, followed by five winnable games to help get us in a better seed for the tourney in DC? If we don’t meet expectations, no biggie - but if we do, I like the advantages this sched gives us to put is in the top 4 seeds!

GIVING DAY 2023
Well full schedule is set now, time for some too early predictions.

I'm still going into this season with 0 expectations and short of a complete an utter implosion will be happy with whatever happens this year -- mainly just looking for signs of what we are building and what is to come in years 3 and 4.

Stony Brook - W
Penn - W
Morgan State - W
@ UMD - L
@ JMU - W
Tournament games -- not really sure what to expect here, not super familiar with what the makeup of the teams we are scheduled looks like, will need to circle back around on these. I think this tournament will end up being indicative of what we can expect for conference play though so a good showing here will bode well for conference play
ODU - thinking a close W but this one could go either way, giving us the nod because of home court
NAVY - W
@ UGA - this is an exttremely winnable game. UGA looked pretty bad at alot of points last season, but they are older and reloaded. Thinking it will stay a 2-3 possession game by the final buzzer, but L
American- W
Coppin State -W
@ vcu- I really am not sure what to think of vcu this year. On paper they should be in for a pretty down year after losing their top 2, but they crush recruiting and there will be someone who comes out of nowhere this year to end up on 1st team all A-10. I think we split with them with a W here and a L at home
@ DUQ - W
URI - I think URI is gonna put it together this year and end up top 4, the talent is there and they've had the time to piece it together with a full offseason -- L
ST Joes - W -- the hawk is dead
@ U of R - L, unless once of U of Rs geriatric stars goes down before this game. They are pretty stacked.
@ GW - W -- Even with the transfers, they are a massive dumpster fire. Did they even end up filling out their roster?
Dayton - Another one that's hard to judge right now -- on paper don't look great, but had a very good recruiting class, might end up surprising folks but I think they'll be very inconsistent and that might translate to them not showing up for games like Mason. W
Bonnies - Bonnies are the class of the league this year, I think they'll win it all -- L
@UMASS - W
SLU - L -- I don't necessarily think SLU is head and shoulders better than us anymore, but I also think we match up terribly with them personnel wise and style wise
@ La Salle - W La Salle's coach makes them go swim laps in their basement gym pool after we drop another 30 spot on them
U of R - L
vcu - L
@ St Joes - W
@ Fordham - Fordham still has a basketball team in the A10? W
GW - W
@ Davidson - I think we finally do match up well with Davidson. Should be a close one but I see us squeaking out a 1 possession win - W
UMASS - W

12-6 conference; 19 -8 overall without the mid season tournament because I have no idea what to expect there. Should be good enough to stick us in the 4-6 seed range which could go either way depending on a surprise win or couple surprise losses in conference play.

I’m not making any predictions year one. As an example you say we don’t match up stylistically with SLU. How do you even know yet?

I also wouldn’t be surprised to see a few bumps in the road early as the players get used to the new system and each other, but which games will they drop they probably won’t in year 2? Who knows.

Very true, I don't have any more insight than 99% of these boards. Looking at our rosters and SLUs and how SLU has historically played vs how English has said we are going to play, SLU was generally much bigger, more physical than what we've got. We are still thin down low, if Oduro gets in foul trouble that game we are probably going small ball which rarely works against Ford coached teams.

pretty simple to look at rosters that we don't match up well with... Richmond, St Louis... maybe our new offense and defense make them completely uncomfortable, but personnel is pretty clear to see who has what we don't generally do well against

Yeah but aren’t you sort of extrapolating from players you aren’t all that familiar with (Schwartz, Cooper, Gaines, Gray, Jones, Kabimba)? Thats a TON of new faces.

You can look at tape on all of these guys outside of Gray and see what they are more or less about. It is all very exciting for the program. Unless Kabimba is 10x better than he probably is that is the only guy that changes the physicality of the team, which again is why we have never and probably won't matchup size wise with some of the bigger teams. Oduro isn't a traditional big which is great in most respects but if he's playing 30 mins a game (he will without foul trouble), a person can reasonably extrapolate how we are looking athletically.
