OT - Brion's Grille is closed.

Many many great memories here. Too many post game beers with friends to count. A national day of mourning for Mason Nation....

I will be additionally heartbroken if they put in some soulless chain in that space.

Good with a Red Lobster, Applebee's, or Bojangles, SUP Dogs, but nothing else chain.

MVC or Crazy Horse, too, but that's it.

I predict Indoor Racquetball courts or a "The Cave" expansion, unfortunately.

I am sorry to see Brion's close it lasted longer there than any of the previous bars (Charle's, Mitz Fitz, Eskimo Nell's, etc). Hopefully someone will put a Mason theme bar restaurant in its bcc place.

Prior planning prevents poor performance. I know it's early but I am starting to rethink my pregame routine now that Brion's is gone. If a new place is open in Brion's current locale I will have to think about that. I have never gone to the Gold Room prior to games. I have always gone for a lukewarm beer in a cheap plastic cup at halftime. I am assuming that pregame "meals" in the Gold Room consist of Chik-fil-a, pizza, or other assorted fast foods. Am I correct in this assumption? How many people usually go pregame? Same standing around like halftime? Overall, for anyone that goes, how would you rate the Gold Room pregame?

I feel really bad for you guys, seriously.
But be thankful you had a place. Back in my day there was no such thing as a place...Yeah, I know, old guy, still....

Wasn't there Mugg's and Mr. Gatti's Pizza at University Mall?

Hmm. You know, Mr. Gatti's kinda rings a bell, but man, it was so long ago, I honestly don't remember. Again, old guy brain.

I hate seeing this. I never was able to leave work early enough on game days to make Brion's a regular thing, but I really did like it when I went. The Mason community is losing a good one in this establishment. I hope he can set up shop somewhere again in the near future.

There are still the occasional Chik-fil-a and Vienna Inn chili dog nights, which I have no problem with as an exception — especially since the line moves so quickly and I grew up in Vienna. What I do love the last few years are the restaurants that cater a full meal, such as the Mexican restaurant (Chuy's?) that served fajitas (chicken and beef), rice and beans. Glory Days and a local Italian restaurant do the same.

What I am interested in seeing is how Brion's no longer being around affects the food in the Green Room, because I'm pretty sure he used to cater every game down there.

Thanks. Food is better than I was expecting.

Ah yes, the Vienna Inn hotdogs! I grew up a mile from there. Is it still open?

Yep, still going strong. My dad was military, so we moved to Vienna when I was in 6th grade. Our house was off Cottage Street behind Magruders.

Cool. We moved there in '66. I was in 4th grade. I lived on Kingsley and then Park St. Both lots have McMansions sitting on them now.

I predict a TGI Fridays. Or a Paper Moon - Masonettes could live a double life

Again, with the "in my day", but in my day the Masonettes did not exist. And the half dozen cheerleaders we did have were, well, not Paper Moon material.
