GIVING DAY 2023
Wouldn’t mind seeing two to three more top 150 teams on the schedule on top of the MW Challenge and the holiday tournament, but sometimes that’s hard to predict.

Yeah it’s not a perfect science. You also have to have schools who are available, willing, have the right dates etc. I suspect the play 2 buy games, host 4 buy games plus a few home and homes, and the tournaments balance themselves fairly well.

Schedule the wins...

If this team wins 20 games+, regardless of post season, 1% of the fan base is going to sit down and go "well we played cupcakes" come next year. people will just keep talking about "hey we had 20 wins! What's going to happen this year?"

Trust me hoping for better when you are winning alot of games, even against cupcakes is far better than winning 7 and hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

All depends on how they do in the A10. If you're Fordham and you rack up a ton of cupcake wins in the OOC and then win 4 games in conference, well, that's not good (Fordham actually won 3 games in the A10 last year -- went 12-20, though, so they won 9 games in their cupcake OOC).

If this team goes at least 10-8 this year in this conference, I think you'll see some buzz going into next year with a senior laden squad.

Spoke with someone on the staff after the game and he stated that was the best game they had played all year. Also, glad to see X getting minutes. Dude is strong and can ball.

That's always a risk. And only the most anal of fans, are going to look at a 12 win season and refer to the cupcake schedule.

Besides, if it took a cupcake schedule to get to 12 wins, then your team is just bad and and a harder OOC schedule to lose even more games only makes the dumpster fire worse, especially for fans.

I was really impressed with Xavier last night. He's put up impressive numbers in previous games, but there was just something about the swagger and leadership he showed. He knew Hartwell was struggling and that AJ was in foul trouble, so he picked up the slack on both ends of the floor.

A trait this team has shown so far is "next man up," which means that we can still win on a night when we get a combined 21 points from Wilson, Hartwell and Miller, because Kier, Xavier and Greene team up for 39. If we can keep up that unselfish mentality, it could serve us well come conference play.

For a true freshman to step up like that is pretty damn special. It’s important to have options if someone has an off night. I love that so many of the players you mentioned will be together for at least another year. It’ll only bode well for the program.

Definitely wouldn't mind it if they posted both coaches post-game press conference on the site.

Looks like they included highlights of the game, though, this time, which is something new.

Mason used to put both coaches post game pressers online back in the day. It is nice to hear from the opposing coaches, especially after a W. Wish they would go back to this.

Did anyone go to the tailgate?
I was at the tailgate and had a really good time. It was my first time at the tailgate - the area they block off is quite large and in the sun so yesterday with it being sunny, no wind and the heat from a charcoal grill it was pretty comfortable out in the parking lot. It was a mix of alumni and students. I would say there were probably 8 to 10 groups tailgating. Music playing, grills going and of course drinking. They had a couple of porta-johns in the tail gate section and two campus police posted at the top. I imagine charging for tailgate parking is to help offset the cost for the porta-johns and campus police. It was fun - I would do it again. I think they should try giving students (or at least student organizations like frats, sororities, clubs) free tailgate parking and just charge alumni - maybe get a better turn out.

My first post here, and I had a good time at the tailgate as well. Joined the board last night based on Jack Strop’s pimping. Glad to drink some beers with you guys; see you at the next tailgate.

I didn't just go to the tailgate, I had my tailgate open and my grill smokin'! There were about a dozen other groups grilling and drinking as well. Saturday evening's weather was excellent! We all had a rip-roaring time.

The next tailgate opportunity is vs. GW on February 15. If the weather cooperates then I'll be out there again. We need more of you "SUPER FANS" to pony up the $32 and party it up in the next parking spot over.

I know you all sit next to fellow fans in EBA and I hope that you talk to one another. So, ask them to join your tailgate and chip in a few bucks for the tailgate permit. That's what I did and we had blast!

Made the 12 hour drive to EBA for the game. Thought it was a pretty good crowd and overall had a great time. Got to see some of you there as well.

The reason we came for this one was so my son could play with the green machine. I know things on here can skew negative and we complain more than we should, but the band day promotion was an absolute home run. They sounded great, they looked huge, and there were a lot of parents in attendance which might draw some new bodies to the game. My son was nervous about it and had a great time. Job well done to everyone involved.

Not gonna lie, him on the drum set for This is How We Do It and Power gave me a little bit of a creeper.
