LOL once again a few AJ Kenner dunks and he's an instant starter

I don't care about Kenner, but if you didn't see the potential AJ brings as a disruptive force on defense and a mismatch playing the 4 on offense, I don't know what to tell you.

By the way, I didn't say I expected him to be a starter, I said I wouldn't be upset if he won the job. I still "expect" Kier to start at the 2 and Mar to start at the 4.

During one game at Kenner AJ ran the break and threw it down. His dad turned to me and said, tell Paulsen that's the style we need to play with. Hopefully we can get up and down quicker this year with more depth.

Even with our depth, which is the deepest it's been in Paulsen's tenure I don't foresee him changing the speed or style of play much. AJ is an explosive player and when he puts it all together he is going to be dangerous. The future is bright and AJ is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Still waiting for him to put it all together. As for our roster I think the talent level needs to be improved. My patience with Paulsen is dwindling, I do think he’s a good coach. I like seeing the offers that have been put out for the 2020 class, maybe that can be credited to our new assistant coach Pete Hutchins? Just need to land some of those top kids we offered.

weird how he looks more comfortable knowing he won't be subbed out immediately for a 6 foot 7 hunchback that can barely run up and down the court without being completely gassed....

It also helps when opposing players play so little defense and you can also freelance as much as you want.

He looks really athletic and dynamic like he always does when he comes on the court though. I really hope he can put it together and play more this year. Could be a game changer if he does.

There's no 5 second rule in college right. AJ should plant himself in the paint and be a true rim protector.
That’s basically what Tako fall did. Sure, AJ isn’t a giant, but his athleticism makes up for it.

he could either save Paulsen's job by putting it all together and living up to the potential many see... or he could be the downfall in Paulsen's tenure at Mason if he continues to not really live up to expectations while Paulsen fails to recruit any other big men....

This is a good take.

I also don’t think it would work because AJ isn’t massive. His shot blocking is more effective coming from the weak side of sliding over rather than just being this big imposing figure in the paint (which he isn’t).

AJ will also look a lot better in The summer bc he doesn’t have to fit into a scheme or style. Argument could be made in both directions for AJ not reaching potential and Paulsen not helping AJ reach potential and adjusting to fit AJs strengths.

AJ gets pulled because in real games his aggressiveness is not controlled and he gets out of position and good teams take advantage of that. If he can stay disciplined like at the beginning of last year then I’d agree he could be a game changer. If not he’ll see sporadic minutes again and we’ll seem more of ordoro than I think we’re all expecting.
