And taller, quicker and more talented too.
congrats to Javon. Not sure if this is different than the A-10 player of the week, or if it's just branded now...
Its different. The official Atlantic 10 player of the week is Obi Toppin. But still, cool to be recognized.
In one of the greatest individual performances by a Mason player, Javon had 39 points (15-22 FG's, 5-10 3-pt. FG's, & 4-6 FT's), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 turnover, & 5 steals in 39 minutes in the 97-87 loss to UR today. His 39 points broke the EagleBank Arena record for a Mason player, and his 15 FG's tied another.
"EAGLEBANK ARENA RECORDS
Most Points: 34, Jason Miskiri vs. American, 2/20/99
Sherrod Wright vs. No. 10 Saint Louis, 2/19/14
Most FG Made: 15, George Evans vs. VCU, 2/14/01"
And, we lost.
Ive been hard on him all year for going missing on offense but damn that’s a hell of a stat line. Would love for him to average 15-20. He’s had a couple games now where when he can get to the rim he explodes on offense.
, Javon Greene is one of just 10 players since 2010-11 to put up a line of 39 pts/5 stl/4 ast/4 reb or better. That list includes Marcus Smart and Ben Simmons
Just wanted to give Javon Greene some love after dropping 39 and 32 in the last two games. Hes stepping up in Kier's absence on both ends of the floor.
If this is any indication of what he truly can be as a basketball player, its a very good thing. I also think he will be primed for a big senior year should it continue, which would be great for the team overall.
Agreed and Javon seems to never get the props he deserves from the boards including g myself.
He truly is carrying this team the last two games and has emerged as a leader. Way to step it up Javon! 71 points in two games, great effort and performance.
Javon Greene averaging 35.5 points and shooting 61.5% over the past two games. Is that good? First back to back 30 spots by a Patriot since... No clue.
and I about to do some archive diving manana!
Javon's 39 points vs. UR tied for the 3rd most by a Mason men's basketball player. Carlos Yates holds the school record of 42 points.
Greene is a machine!
This kid has almost single-handedly gotten us all 10 free boneless wings in the last week. Kudos to him!
The Greene Machine?
Dick Patrick article:
Update: Last Mason player with back-to-back 30 spots: Donald Ross in Dec. 1993
Other back-to-backers: Hal Woodside, Rudolph Jones, Herb Estes, Carlos Yates, Byron Tucker
Carlos Yates had four-straight 30+ efforts in 1982-83
Highlights from Javon. Looking forward to see if he can put it all together for his senior year.
With a team-high 2 steals in Mason's 77-57 loss vs. Richmond this afternoon at EBA, Javon has 138 career steals, passing Jon Larranaga (137) and Corey Edwards (137) for 9th place in career steals at Mason.
"Senior Javon Greene led the Patriots with 18 points (6-12 FG) to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. During the game, Greene became the 39th player to reach the 1,000-point milestone in a Mason uniform. The McDonough, Ga. product also moved into a tie with Jai Lewis for eighth place on the Patriots' career steals list (140).
'I'm so happy for Javon,' Paulsen said. 'He's handled some struggles and adversity at a really high level this season - that says a lot more about a person than when everything goes great. He's poured his heart and soul into this program.'"
This is what you call good company @_javon23

He also is 6tg in steals. Only the 3rd Patriot with at least 1000 points 500 rebounds and 150 steals. JOINING George Evans and Rob Rose
