You can always use the physical play of an Ian Boyd on your roster...look forward to seeing him play again
I'm glad he's coming back and while honestly I'd rather have a 100% healthy swing man than take a chance on Kier being anything over 75%, I'm not sold he's going to make some jump in shooting %. His utility is gonna come from rebounding and defense. He's a super streaky shooter from 3, and when he misses he misses badly.
You will be surprised what a year off will do mentally. I expect Boyd to be more of what we actually expected him to be outta HS. I hope the team commits to staying in FFX this summer and working collectively on a common goal.
Take this with the smallest grain of salt but Daddy did not leave Brooklyn with the team after the A10 Tourney was cancelled, he stuck around and I saw him at 7am at Penn Station on Friday boarding a train solo. I would say he was probably visiting a friend or family but I thought I'd throw that out there for speculation.
I had a similar thought. I think Paulsen’s does a great job at preparing freshman to play. But unfortunately, that same process has shown to burn out players. I think the time off will help the older players. But I don’t expect the freshman to be as successful this season
I agree with the majority on here that losing Hartwell would suck. I like his game and believe with a fully healthy junior season he would be very valuable.
http://gmuhoops.co/2020/04/03/ian-b...n-kier-most-likely-wont/#sthash.zzBIAFkW.dpbs: "Also the latest rumors are that Justin Kier won’t be returning and will be pursuing professional opportunities, which is probably what opened up this spot for Boyd to return. Obviously losing Kier would be a big blow to the team but Boyd’s return definitely helps to fill some of the void as a veteran presence."
If all goes well, they won't need very much out of the freshman this year which is good because they'll take a year to adjust to everything. Polite might get some minutes and same with Henry but its going to be few and far between for the most part imo.
Because more than one player who is currently on the roster will be leaving. As Pablo quoted my sources also tell me that Kier will be leaving and another potential starter could be out the door as well. A lot of people have mentioned Hartwell but I'll throw another name out there of someone that I have heard since about mid way through the season wasn't happy..JG
If we lose Javon, I would consider it a crime against humanity to try to be getting another freshman to replace him, especially if the NCAA does, in fact, eliminate the redshirt rule on first-time transfers. Criminal...fire Paulsen before the season if that happens.
Yes, I agree. I will say that whatever the tension was seemed to improve but guy wasn't happy. If I was a betting man I would say that Hartwell leaves to head back west but don't be surprised if JG enters the transfer portal.
I see some truth to this rumor. He was suspended for a game at Duquesne, and after that he lost his starting job. He also got a technical foul against Davidson.
Have we linked every player on the roster yet to possibly transferring? If not, I saw XJ once crunch his paper cup before throwing it away... obviously he was pissed and will transfer. I saw Oduro wearing a royal blue shirt on Instagram, so he’s gone. Probably Kentucky or Kansas. Who else?
Javon is not going anywhere and neither is Hartwell. Daddy, who is freaking 22 yr old freshman, is only question mark. How in the hell is he 22? And a freshman in college? Where did he go after hs or was he a 21 yr old senior? This scares me in that the ncaa might investigate.
Does any rule restrict age? I remember watching a ESPN highlight on a dad and son that were on the same football team. BYU frequently has older players due to missions.
