GIVING DAY 2023
Our women's lacrosse team is having arguably their best season ever. They finished the regular season 12-4 overall (ties program record for wins) and 7-2 in the A10 (new program record for conference wins).

They will be the #2 seed in this week's 6-team Atlantic 10 tournament, earning an automatic bye into Friday's semifinals. #1 seed UMass is the seven-time defending champion, and hasn’t lost an A10 game since 2010.

https://gomason.com/news/2019/11/14/womens-lacrosse-announces-2020-schedule.aspx:

"FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's lacrosse head coach Jessy Morgan has announced the program's 2020 schedule, which includes games against three 2019 NCAA Tournament teams and a marquee home contest with defending national champion Maryland.

The Patriots will host eight contests at George Mason Stadium and hit the West Coast for a two-game California swing in February.

In all, Mason's non-conference opponents combined to post an 85-61 record (.582) last season.

'We have put together another challenging schedule this year,' Morgan said. 'I believe that the strength of our non-conference schedule prepared us for the challenges of the A-10 last season. My hope is to continue to build on that progress. We still have a huge hurdle to get over but this year, but we have a wealth of experience and we couldn't be more excited for the season to start.'

Mason opens the season with three-straight home contests, beginning with the contest against the Terrapins on Saturday, February 8. Maryland went 22-1 last season en route to the program's 15th national championship in May."

" ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
Mason is coming off an outstanding 2019 campaign in which the Patriots tied program records for A-10 wins (7) and A-10 Championship seed (2). Led by Morgan, the 2019 A-10 Coach of the Year, the Patriots return 10 of 12 starters from last season's team, including A-10 Rookie of the Year Deanna Balsama and First Team All-A-10 selections Melissa Semkiw and Erin Donoghue."

Looks like a nice hire based on her background as a player and assistant coach...of course, I know jack about women's lacrosse.

Can really only go up from that 3-year span!

I went to a handful of lax games when they were still in the CAA, and I remember it being an enjoyable sport to watch live. It's a nice afternoon out if you are in the area.

All The Buzz. What a start to the 2024 season.

A stifling defensive effort and yet again a potent offensive display led the Mason women’s lacrosse team to a decisive 17-6 win over the visiting Hornets of Delaware State on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Patriots have matched the combined win total of the past three seasons and head into conference play red-hot.

A goal by Kaitlyn Bestick just 36 seconds into the game really set the tone as the Green & Gold dominated from the opening whistle.

PATRIOT TRIVIA

With yet another hat trick in Monday’s home win over Delaware State, Shannon Tuozzo continued her hot start to the 2024 spring season for the Mason women’s lacrosse team.

She has scored three or more goals in six of the Patriots’ seven games this season helping the Green & Gold to one of the best starts in program history.

With 27 goals already, where does Tuozzo rank nationally in total goals scored?
Answer: Third.

After Monday’s win, Tuozzo moved into a tie for third nationally in total goals with 27, ranking behind only Cincinnati’s Camryn Callaghan (33) and Duke’s Katie DeSimone (31).
