Where does Jeremiah Quigley fit in? Is he slated to be the starting PG? Listing him at 5'11 seems to be very generous and now we have two sub 6' guards on the roster.

You never know.

Donate to the Patriot Nation Collective. Ain't happening without $$$.
Gonna have to be some folks with lots deeper pockets than I have. Honestly, and I may be completely wrong (maybe some of you guys have $$$$ to give), but beating the drum here seems like (almost) a waste of time. Someone (higher ups, ie, Dr. W) needs to go after the BIG guys.

I'd be interested to know how much the basketball alums are putting into the Patriot Nation Collection. Historically, the basketball alums are the worst at giving back to the school/Patriot Club with only like 5-7% of the alumni donating. I would imagine it has increased since CTS took over but no clue.

I suspect some of the hesitation has to do with the fact we are adding guys from lower level conferences than the A-10. That doesn't mean they can't be really good in the A-10 but I can certainly see where it can cause people to wonder. Frankly, I am in that camp. I hope these guys do great but it's not like adding a Darius Maddox where we know for sure what the guy can do against really good competition.

I can understand tapered enthusiasm for guys like O'Connor and Quigley.

"Wow they tore up the MAAC or America East, yipee skipee"

But like @HoopsAdmin said these are guys to the puzzle, and Mason isn't done considering they still have 3 spots to fill. I would be expecting that at least 2 of those spots are going to go to bigger fish, think Anderson or Taylor.

Being in the A10 means you can balance guys who were at upper levels who want to come down a level to be local (Newton, Maddox,), but you can also go get kids who were overlooked and did really well in their first stop at a lower level (O'connor, Quigley). So far the guys we got have fit perfectly like a puzzle and I could imagine with many local ties, the kids will want to stay at least 2 years which is what I personally would like to see.

Yeah, Quigley might have an adjustment to the speed of the A10, the MAAC is not the A10. But considering hes a local kid and improved a ton over the last part of the year as a true freshman, I'd expect good things out of him. Also, with all the ties to the area that he has, and Tony and staff have, if they didn't think he could help us out, I sincerely doubt we'd look to bring him home. There is also a chance that Quigley might get a chance to split PG with someone more experienced as well if the staff feels him and Begg aren't enough at PG. We know we aren't going to see PG half assed.

My last post aged very well, specifically "There is also a chance that Quigley might get a chance to split PG with someone more experienced as well if the staff feels him and Begg aren't enough at PG. We know we aren't going to see PG half assed."

The new VA law may make it easier for that... we'll see.
Yep, been saying this for years. Need someone to go after the big companies in town. We need cash to be competitive. Was supposed to be D Green but he didn't do crap. Katie needs to start hitting the pavement.... yet no clear picture or laid out plan of attack provided to the fans, community, etc. yet. Not holding my breath either. AD's are politicians... will say the stuff we want to hear but when time to enact a plan never goes through or is hush hush about it.

FedEx just gave $25 million to Memphis's NIL.

I suggested on Twitter that one easy NIL cash infusion would be to take the arena naming rights $ and allocate it all to the collective, then put men’s and women’s basketball players at the center of a marketing campaign with Eagle Bank.

$660k a year split between the two hoops programs would be a game-changer for Mason.

Great idea! You should email Mason Athletics about that right here:

I’m not worried about getting guys from lower conferences. How many of Mason players transfers to better competition and still kicked a**?(Kolek, Hankook, Miller just to name a few).

Until Skinn and Company give me a reason to doubt them, I’m going to continue to have faith.

Give me the coach over the players. Give me both and i'm buying in. Paulsen had all the talent anyone could have asked for in the A10 and he was god awful. If Tony had Josh, Miller, Koleck and Xaiver johnson you are telling me he couldn't have finished top 4? Haha yeah ok..... Not worried about taking guys from lower leagues as long as we have Tony and crew.

It's funny that we Mason is literaly the school that went to the final 4 with kids no one wanted after all...........

I just watched JQ's transfer tape.

He's a better offensive player in the half court than either PG last year.

He knows how to read and use ball screens as freshman better than polite did as 4 year player at Mason.

When someone else dribble penetrates, he immediately move to open spot for the kick out.

Those are veteran plays that freshman don't normally know.

He's gonna turn out to be upgrade.

Quigley is a huge upgrade over Dinkins. It took one minute of watching his footage to look at the swagger he brings. He might be a little under-sized at the A10 level, but oh well.

Hope he can turn into the next Jordan King from Richmond.

Travis King sucks. His cousin Jordan is a baller though.
