The 2026 Transfer Portal

Hill, Kanga, and O'Connor are very likely staying. Long was a complete shock given every indicator suggested he was staying and Mincy was always borderline but there was a point where we could have kept him based on the NIL money

Another former Mason target, Elijah Flowers, has entered the portal. Flowers is a 6'7 SF who was known as a sniper coming out of HS (he hit 7 threes in a game).

Redshirted for ODU last year, and would have 4 years of eligibility.

At this point in the NIL landscape seems kids are trying to get the most dollars they can rather than them caring about the school/majors and percentage/chance at winning a regular season championship and getting to the tourney at that school. That all seems secondary to these kids now, they just want the bag. First thing comes to their mind is how much can they make/highest bidder.

Would love to to see the data and analytics on kids who transfer out....who take the biggest money offer they receive over versus the 2nd, 3rd, 4th highest "bids" / NIL offerings for their services/recruitment. Thinking something crazy like at least 90% of players take the highest bids/offerings.

I assume we will have to wait until the big money teams eat. Then hope a few crumbs fall our way.

If Im Pendergrass' agent/parents am I looking to stay at a place that has so little to build around my player? This is madness and unsustainable.

No, he’s looking to be featured or flash enough here for a year to earn a Okojie/Hall/Mincy deal. Again, I’m pretty sure this is part of the recruiting pitch at this juncture for Mason.

UT Martin transfer Matas Deniusas tells Transfer Tapes he has been in contact and potentially setting up visits with the following schools since entering the Portal

April 8: George Mason | Minnesota | Richmond | Rhode Island - Potential Visits/Zooms

Seton Hall | Kansas State | + other D1's - Contacted

Skilled 6-9 stretch 4, averaged 12.5 ppg and 5.3 rebounds this season. Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year.

Hope we get a visit.

The market is not sustainable. It is literally destroying incentive to even try to compete for anyone outside the top 75-100 programs. And as usual Mason is right on the fringe — not enough resources to really be a player at the top of our league, but enough to at least dream big about catching another March heater.

It’s called no man’s land for a reason lol.
Why is it not sustainable? Tv ratings have never been better.

Obviously Skinn is crushing it, so this idea might be off. But freshmen are generally cheaper than proven players. I’d like to see Mason try a Fab Five–type approach—go get the best freshmen early before they become overpriced.

They’re cheaper because you’re paying for what is the worst year of most players’ development curve. And now you can’t afford to keep them beyond the first year if they play well so what’s the point?

Need to start treating players like coaches. There needs to be a buyout clause…or some mechanism to recapture part of our investment. It’s the only way developmental schools like Mason can sustain a program. Hit a few diamonds in the rough, shine them up and sell them. Could be a way for Mason to build a sizable war chest and CTS might just be the right kind of coach to execute.
