Spain Trip

Holloway had team-high 18 in first and third games.

But I think I see the point you were trying to make. So far, Patrick definitely looks like a "different player" than he did last season. Hope he keeps it up in games that count! :bigsmile:

We all know that Patrick is an effective scorer behind the arc, but I'm hoping that he has developed into a more complete player: defending, rebounding, distributing the ball, & scoring effectively inside the arc. Is this too much too expect from the former All-Met POY?

Nice to see Mason finish 4-0. However since we played against level 3 and level 4 professional teams, it got me curious about something. Would the wins be equivalent to Mason beating a Div. 1 team like Southern Utah (a school that is thankful to even have a team) or mid major teams like those in the CAA or WCC?

I highly doubt the wins would equate to beating any of the schools in the ACC, Big 10, or Big 12 . However if anyone would like to argue it does please do.

I just wonder what the 4 wins would be equivalent to beating what type of teams in men's basketball division 1. That is if the wins in Spain can be converted from pro level 3 or 4 into college div. 1 basketball at all.

Trying to figure out what these wins equate to is pointless. This trip was a great opportunity to play a few games, gain extra practice, and explore a new area, nothing more nothing less. As long as there was some bonding and team work improvement what else could you ask for. Hope they had a great time.

None of us have seen these spanish teams play, but I have to believe its the equivalent to a good D-II school.

Another shirt idea. And yes, I'm completely ripping off professional wrestling. :)

We just beat the equivalent of Marymount, VA Wesleyan, Ferrum College, and NC Wesleyan.

This trip was more for team bonding, teamwork building, vaca, and play a lil' ball against some kindergardners. Another metaphor:

Mason = Billy Madison
Spain Teams = 1st grade kids

Compared to other schools that played overseas this summer, how does the competition compare that we faced? Wasn't Miami in Spain? Did they play the same level teams? I think there were other schools too. I can't remember since I just got back for overseas myself.

Agree with this sentiment. The fact that we got to have "organized" practices, play a few games against some competition and bond is better than 3/4 of the schools (assuming that: (a) everyone else takes these trips; and (b) they are spread roughly evenly). Hopefully the kids will have something to build on moving forward and can start their season a bit further down the road than they would have otherwise. Too bad that Mayimba wasn't able to go with the team.

Miami went 4-0 on their trip and won by an avg of ~20 pts, completely dominated every game. I would assume given the fact that both teams went a combined 8-0 and domintated that the competition was probably equivalent to DII or lower. I don't know what division teams Miami was playing, didn't see it mentioned in any of the recaps or videos.
