I went to the Missouri @ Howard game last nite. I made a mistake in my seat selection and ended up smack dab in the middle of one the Missouri Sections.

Not quite a sellout but i'd guess 40% of the crowd was Missouri fans

The guy i was sitting next to, a Missouri grad, said that he has lived in Chevy Chase for 35 years and this was the first time that Missouri football or Men's BBall have come to DC

He said that he and multiple other alumni had seen English play in college and initially hoped that English would get the HC job, but seems like Gates was the better choice and they are happy with Gates and glad they got him

Gates and Blakeney (Howard HC) are friends, The game was part of a 1and 2 game deal started when Howard played at Kansas. So Howard got a 1 home game deal and 2 games at Missouri, 1 game at Howard, but no one knew what the exact "buy" rate was, but it was lessened as Kansas paid airfare back to DC for Howard after the Kansas game, and Missouri paid for Howard to fly from Kansas to Missouri, rather than DC to Missouri.

After the game the 2 teams lingered at midcourt - interfering with the cheerleaders last performance and took a group photo of the 2 teams together, as well as some individuals who were sitting in the courtside seats and a few people who came out of the stands.

Then Gates, with a photographer in tow, took pictures with some select individuals. I don't know if they were friends/family, DC recruits, or key DC Alumni.

DC entrepreneur and now very rich guy, Mark Ein, was Captain for the Game. He was 2 years behind me at Penn - 45 years ago

We really need to get better home opponents if Howard got Missouri.

I am waiting, hoping, expecting that at some point we get home and aways from all the schools that CTS has coached at Ohio State, Seton Hall, Louisiana Tech, as well as all the good schools that his Coaching Cohort has moved onto.

Personally, I think the home OOC schedule sucks, but will be there when i find tix less than $5 or $10, and when there are no better games by local competition

i think it would be villanova with Willard not Seton Hall.

Mizzou knows that they will beat Howard 9x of 10. It would be more of a risk for them to play us, or other team(s) of our caliber.

Not at Providence. Was at Mohegan Sun Casino in CT. But very pro Providence crowd.
