Mason v Richmond Sunday 1/25 - what happens

I can't imagine this game is played on Sunday at 2pm given the snow forecast - do we think it would be postponed until Monday?

Women's team is really rolling and is playing themselves back onto the bubble, would be terrible if they miss one of their few remaining opportunities for a quality win - Richmond has a NET of 46 and is a bubble team.

Guessing a postponement. Monday may be too soon depending on how much snow we (and Richmond) get.

Will Richmond come in ahead of Sunday?

While the women have a nice winning streak going, their play is not all that great. I fear the Spiders could blow us out, especially if we can't get a good crowd there given the weather.

Interestingly, this is the second consecutive year that fans will not be permitted to attend a George Mason - Richmond women's basketball game: https://www.wric.com/sports/no-fans-ur-womens-basketball-water-crisis/

"RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Fans will not be allowed at the University of Richmond women’s basketball game Wednesday night — where they’ll take on George Mason University — due to the ongoing water crisis in the city.

Following multiple malfunctions of the city’s reservoir system, Richmond remains largely without water as of Wednesday, Jan. 8. The crisis began on Monday, Jan. 6 during the first winter storm of 2025.

In an announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, UR’s women’s basketball announced that fans will not be allowed at Wednesday night’s game due to these water issues. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. and will be livestreamed."

So very typical of Richmond government.

"There will be no broadcast available. Live stats and updates will still be provided on Instagram and X at @MasonWBB"
Boo! Originally when it was scheduled at 2, it would have been carried by ESPNU. Had my day all planned in hunkering down during the snow.

Following live stats isn't the same--no opportunity to holler at the refs.

Makes sense. Although the Feb 16 game means 3 games in 5 days.
URI at home, Richmond at home, then Loyola away. So the top 2 teams in the league back-to-back.

At least Richmond has the same issue only worse in that they have back-to-back-to back away games on those 3 dates: Davidson, Mason, GW.

Given the early severe storm warnings, why wasn't this game originally rescheduled for yesterday?

Hmm. Feb 16th is President's Day. Federal holiday. Public school holiday. Are Mason classes cancelled that day?

Perhaps a mid-afternoon game televised on one of the ESPN channels?
