GIVING DAY 2023
Hey all,

The giving day page is already live - https://givingday.gmu.edu/s/1564/GID2/16/interior-1colb.aspx?sid=1564&gid=2&pgid=9693. I'm happy to once again match contributions made by Masonhoops posters to the basketball greatness fund or directly to men's or women's basketball up to $2,500. Feel free to direct message me or post in here contributions that you've made.

Thanks.
Does only the basketball greatness fund support revenue sharing with athletes or does the friends of men’s basketball as well? Want to make sure I’m putting money in the right pot to give Tony a better war chest going into portal season.

Basketball Greatness is the revenue sharing. Friends of is program support (meals, charters, team budget) but not NIL. In theory the AD Opportunity Fund is also money Marvin has complete discretion over so could be used for revenue sharing or other purposes but if wanting to help Tony's war chest the Greatness Fund is your best bet.

They better have 75% of that coming in already or they are gonna look real stupid.

@mkaufman1 has heard this too many times, but I’d be a lot more motivated to give if I felt like the university was ever going to prioritize basketball — as in, either raise fees a bit or reallocate existing revenue to significantly increase the rev share payments.

Do something. Be purposeful about promoting your investment on social and fans will jump into the donation pool with both feet. We all want to win and we want Tony and VBL to have the resources to do so.

Right now the donation I was thinking about making today feels like money wasted.

I hear you - Jim but I’m not sure we are ever going to get that type of signal.

The best we are going to get is showing commitment to Tony and hearsay on how our budget may increase to acquire players.

Also I’ll add that it’s nice we finally have athletics giving day and they tell us to some degree what is going on. There’s at least some marginal improvements

I threw in my donation. Everyone donate what you can. Dont' care if its $25 or 500 bucks.
I think I was the first to donate. Yes, it was only $25, but hopefully the number of contributors will show the size of the fan base. Of course, I wish it could have been more, but you know the mantra of us old people
living on a fixed income.
