Improve Mason home game experience discussion

GIVING DAY 2023
I did it all Nickelodeon Live, Power Rangers Live, Sesame Street Live, Legends of the Hidden Temple live all the "Pat Dome", and lived to talk about it. That's parenting in the Eighties and Nineties. (Oh', my "two kids" are now thirty-six and thirty-three .)
LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE LIVE?!?!?!? Let's make that a half time event for the undergrads!

Here are some ideas I have to improve the home game experience at EBA.

Gear Trailer
-The gear trailer is a success (people are buying tshirts, hats etc). To make it even better:

-I would like more selection of hats, winter beanie hats, tshirts, jerseys, and hoodies to choose from
-Hats, winter beanie hats, tshirts, jerseys, long sleeve shirts, and hoodies should also be sold in kids/youth sizes
-There should be an area for fans to customize their own Mason gear. Fans should be able to personalize their own gear with their own last name or something
-Because standing outside of EBA waiting to enter is cold, the gear trailer should have: Mason branded gloves and scarves

Inside of EBA
-NIL donation area
-Cup holders in each of the seats of EBA
-Fast wifi
-Serve coffee/hot chocolate
-Sell gear inside of EBA as well (Hats, winter beanie hats, tshirts, jerseys, long sleeve shirts, and hoodies and also in kids sizes)
-Have more selection of beer to choose from

Outside of EBA where fans line up to enter the arena:
-Have some local Northern Virginia based food trucks where they have hot chocolate, burgers, tacos, coffee, donuts, pizza etc
-Hand out raffle tickets to fans (maybe the first 30 fans or something) in line so they can win some free Mason gear (hat or tshirt)
-Live local music
-Basketball hoop for kids/fans to shoot hoops at
-Face paint section
-Photo op section. Have the Mason mascot + cutouts of current players for fans/kids to take pictures at
-Have some tents where Mason staff/sponsors giveaway/promote stuff
-Activities/games/cornhole for kids/fans

LOL....the only thing I did close to that is I took my son my son to see "Jackass: The Movie" in 2002, when he was thirteen . It was rated :"R" for some reason. We both laughed our asses-off. A little father son bonding. I don't think his mother would have approved. But hey, I had custody.

I went to the first 3 quarters of the women's game today...the bleachers where the students usually sit were back in place. The DJ was still in the section between the Green Machine and the visitor's bench. Kids with green glow sticks were everywhere and must have been 80% of the crowd. Some concession stands were open--game was during most people's lunch time--but I think some of the chaperones were sneaking in their own food!

Just got this email:

Dear And 1 Club Members,

George Mason Athletics is excited to offer you a unique, exclusive opportunity at our upcoming Women’s Basketball game against La Salle University on Wednesday, January 7th.

We are introducing a new premium seating area as a trial for future seasons, and you’re invited to experience it free of charge as one of our most valued partners and supporters.

Here’s what you can expect:
* Location: Behind the home-side basket (normally reserved for the Manicas student fan group, who will be relocated for this game).
* Limited Capacity: Space for approximately 80 guests, with standing tables and seating available.
* Hospitality: Complimentary food and select beverages will be provided.

Your continued support inspires us to explore innovative ways to enhance the game-day experience for our community. This trial will help shape plans for next season and beyond.

It was raining yesterday while waiting in line to get into EBA for the vcu game. I think Mason Athletics next time should put up some tents at all of the EBA entrances so that fans don't have to stand outside in the rain.

Also, sell coffee/hot chocolate, and have food trucks outside EBA. That would be another revenue stream aside from the gear trailer.

I don't think that would work for cold weather, which is the case for most of our games. People are looking to get inside the arena, not grab something to eat outside the arena. Also reduces the concession sales inside.
