I'd say vcu is a step down for her - at best
at this point - 400 wins and A-10 Regular and Tourney Championships - it is P4 or stay at GMU
Fingers crossed : she stays here, close to home
Nightmare scenario: she leaves for a P4 and takes Walton, Harris, and Amaoteng with her.

Walton leaves and joins her as a grad student;
Mary leaves as a rising Sophomore with 3 years of eligibility remaining.
If Harris is a rising senior she stays for the sake of graduation in a year
I must say, all this speculation is making me sad, especially when I should be riding a wave of enthusiasm for what the team has already accomplished. And the possibilities that lie ahead of us.
Reality is no player will ever be guaranteed to come back ever again - some will leave we don’t expect to and some will stay we don’t expect to.
Ive reset my mindset to where I just dont really worry about it, and then track the xfers like crazy in the off season haha.

her old contract ends next month and it has already been extended
her base salary of $400K is already above a significant number of P4 Programs
she is not at the Geno/UConn or Dawn Staley or Kim Mulkey Level -yet
and for her to get there it may take her taking a pay cut, moving to a low to mid-level P4 program and duplicate what she has done at Mason - which is another risk, that i am not sure that a coach who has been around long enough to amass 400 wins should be willing to take.
There are less than 10 (out of 360+) profitable Women's BBall programs. Many ADs will accept a losing women's BBall program (or any losing women's sports programs) in order to preserve cash for Men's football or men's basketball - which are the only 2 potentially profit generating college sports
Furthermore, her buyout clause is effectively the cash to hire another coach of her quality/performance level. She is tied to GMU with golden/fleece lined handcuffs.
But I hope that she continues to get interest from other programs and interviews. This is a chance to get GMU on P4 schedules. But also advocate for other coaches to get better jobs - like the Dayton Coach who almost beat us of Friday.

With the possible exception of Pat Layne, has any men's or women's basketball coach ever retired from coaching at GMU since the school has been D-1? Either they are fired or they leave for another coaching job. And, I expect that Coach Blair-Lewis with her successful record has, or soon will have, offers that are too good to turn down (possibly from my alma mater).

Is her husband still an NBA ref? If so, living close to a hub airport (e.g. Dulles) may be an important factor in any relocation decision. Might disfavor a place like State College and some (but not all) P4 colleges.

Arizona had an opening after last season and IIRC, she was a candidate for this. Don't know if she turned it down or if she was their second choice and the first choice took the job.
