If Pitino didn’t convince Hancock to sit out “sick,” who knows how far Mason could’ve gone in 2011. He dominated Nova, then suddenly couldn’t play in the second round—only to end up at Louisville.
I’ve heard several conspiracies or ideas of what happened, but I never heard that Pitino convinced Hancock to sit out “sick”.

I don’t know, as good as Mike Mo and Cornelius were, I’ve got to give the edge to the Skinn, Butler, Campbell, Lewis, Thomas, Norwood 5+1.

The one advantage 2011 had was Hancock. But I think Cam Long would have had a real problem handling the defense when they went to the scramble (think the start of the second half against UNC).
Look at the metrics, last time I looked if I recall correctly, 2011 was better.

I feel like the lack of Ryan Pearson answers here is confounding. All American honorable mention, all caa. Him and Mike Mo were as fun as any inside tandem that I’ve seen
Love Pearson and Mike Mo - but when you have the likes of Gaddy, Evans, Sanders, Thomas, Yates to compete with for a spot in the top 5 and at a forward position, it makes it hard for you to put him on a list. They aren't getting ahead of any of those guys.
