Well he has a point. Tony Bennett is responsible for where UVA is today. He had to mold the staff, as much as he had to mold the players over the past 4 years. I dont think McKay could do that alone or even 30% of it.

Once announced as new coach, I don't plan on hating on the hire. But as names are thrown out, I will say when I am not thrilled. I realize I likely will not be thrilled by any name that isn't Jay Larranaga, but I am willing to give most a chance until they prove to me that they are not a good hire. But a retread is not what most of us are looking for.

Thoughts on Mckay and Williford from a UVA season ticket holder:

Probably McKay, since he has been a Head Coach before, but he gave up the Liberty job to take the Associate Head Coaching Job UVA, and is being paid fairly well, so he might not be interested in it. Williford, on the other hand, is from Richmond, and has never been a head coach, so my guess is that he would be interested.

It's not a matter of magic. Copes is due for a bounce back year . Jenkins will continue his march in Patriot lore. Holloway has hit some clutch shots for us. We lost a lot of heartbreakers. I don't expect so many Close games. I think the guys learned the hard way you have to bring your A+ game to beat A10 teams. The freshmen will give us something. Hewitt will coach every game like it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He needs a winning year to impress the new AD. I think we go 10-8 in league play and 8-4 in OOC. That gets us to 18-12. Maybe add a win or 2 in Brooklyn and we should be in a tourney come March.
