"Wes Miller and the University of Cincinnati have come to an agreement on a buyout according to the CIncinnati Enquirer.

Under the terms of his most recent contract, Cincinnati owed Miller $9.9 million on his buyout prior to April 1, when that figure was set to drop to $4.69 million. Had Miller left for another opportunity, he would have owed $5 million. According to the Enquirer report, the sides agreed on a $3.1 million buyout deal.

This agreement now allows Miller to pursue other opportunities, while the Bearcats can move forward with their coaching search. Until the separation agreement was finalized, Miller technically remained a university employee, as no formal termination had been announced."

"Miller is currently believed to be the leader for the vacant job at Charlotte."

"Scott Cross, who has won seven conference championships and 350 games in 19 seasons as a head coach – including five-straight 20-win seasons and back-to-back Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament titles at Troy – has been named the 16th head coach in Georgia Tech men’s basketball history, Georgia Tech vice president and director of athletics Ryan Alpert announced on Friday.

Cross, who comes to the Yellow Jackets after seven successful seasons as the head coach at Troy (2019-26), also served as the head coach at Texas-Arlington for 12 years (2006-2018). He earned his 350th career victory in this month’s Sun Belt Conference championship game, which lifted Troy to its second-straight conference title and NCAA Tournament berth. The Trojans won at least 20 games in each of Cross’s final five seasons at the helm, and he has 10 20-win seasons in all as a head coach, including five at UT Arlington.

In all, he’s led his teams to four regular-season conference championships, three conference tournament titles, three NCAA Tournaments and eight total postseason berths as a head coach, to go along with his 350-260 career record (.574).

He was named the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year after leading Troy to the league’s regular-season and tournament crowns. It was the third coach-of-the-year honor of his career (2017 Sun Belt, 2012 Southland)."

“'We are thrilled to welcome Coach Cross to Georgia Tech,' Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera said. 'His winning record and proven leadership speak for themselves, but what sets him apart is his understanding what it means to develop student-athletes as competitors, scholars, team players and leaders, and that aligns perfectly with Georgia Tech’s values.'”

Correct, although vcu and Dayton spend possibly more.

But we are not in the bottom. There is just a gap between top spenders. We are somewhere in the 5th or 6th range to my knowledge.
it’s interesting to see how teams are deciding to allocate money. It seems like Skinn prefers depth, some coaches prefer to spend on just starters. And the best teams do both.

Agreed. It’s very interesting to see the differences between haves and have nots.

FWIW, I just went through a whole bunch of the Syracuse message board BS. They could be Mason fans the way the complain and moan, but I digress.

While CTS is mentioned by some as a fallback possibility, they seemed mostly focused on GMac, or Gerry McNamara, of Sienna. Apparently he is a Syracuse alum. Some like the idea some don't. They are also talking about Scherz from Saint Louis, but realize he's more or less committed to SLU based on recent contract/NIL negotiations with the school.

Mentions of CTS seem mostly dismissal in nature. They don't believe he has the experience, to which I wholeheartedly agree, and CTS should stay here a few more years to get said experience.

Those were the two I was worried about. Although funnily enough I was listening to the SLU postgame against Georgia and the podcaster for SLU said “Providence is the Davidson of the Big East” when asked about Schertz taking the job.

The Hubert Davis departure has the potential to unfold quite an interesting series of events.
True. And I get it. Matt Daugherty and Hubert Davis were not Dean Smith and Roy Williams. And while I was glad to see Matt go, I really hate it for Hubert. His uncle Walter hit one of the great shots in UNC history and Hubert bleeds Carolina Blue...plus he is a super good guy. But this is not Carolina basketball as it needs to be. Especially with Puke continuing to roll.
Still, sending coach Ratface out with two losses will always be on Davis' resume.

Unfair firing. Why didnt unc fire Roy when he blew a 16pt lead and lost to Mason? Had full roster too. Racists!

Ha. Roy Williams won 3 national titles
haa...yea he did. One of which was 3 years after he lost to Mason in the tournament. it also took Dean Smith 5 years to get it going. Good thing they kept him. Overall it stinks for a great guy.
