"Dwight Perry, who was dismissed as the head men’s basketball coach at Wofford back on September 12th, has issued his first public statement since his release:

Perry and associate head coach Tysor Anderson were let go following controversy over on-campus dining cards – a seemingly minor violation.

Perry took over as the Terrier’s interim head coach back in December 2022, and was elevated to the full-time position following that season. He went 48-43 (.527) during his tenure, including a 19-16 campaign last season.

Today, Wofford alum Kevin Giltner, who had been serving as an assistant at Virginia Tech, was officially named as the Terriers new head basketball coach.

This seems like a rather avoidable self-own from Wofford College here (who seems to have a weird rule around off campus student-athletes using/having meal plans on campus?)

This wasn’t an NCAA violation at all, from my understanding.

Mason may start the season 1-0 before they get on the court.

"Fourth-year Wagner coach Donald Copeland is serving a suspension and is under investigation by the school for repeated mistreatment of his players, school athletic director Walt Hameline confirmed to CBS Sports on Wednesday.

The investigation was first made public by a Wednesday report in the New York Post.

"'Copeland is being accused of verbally abusing several players and refusing them water breaks during strenuous practices,' the Post reported. 'Copeland has not yet been found responsible of the allegations, but multiple complaints were sent to school administrators at the Staten Island-based college that sparked the investigation, sources said.'

The Post's story cites multiple sources and includes quotes from R.J. Greene, a former Wagner player who entered the transfer portal at the end of last season.

'It was every single day,' Greene told the Post. 'Every day was like a war, on and off the court.'

Copeland allegedly used inappropriate language against his players in practice, and in one disturbing alleged incident cited by the Post, mandated his players would run to exhaustion after he found a hidden Gatorade bottle in the gym that one player was drinking from. 'Two players passed out due to dehydration,' according to an email obtained by the Post, and one of those two players was brought to a local hospital.

Wagner athletic director Walt Hameline said the school began its investigation immediately after hearing the abuse claims. He provided the following statement to CBS Sports: 'Wagner College takes student health and well-being seriously. Upon learning of these allegations we moved quickly to review them. As we continue to do so, we will not comment further on this matter.'

CBS Sports has also reached out to Copeland for comment but is yet to hear back."

"Donald Copeland, 41, led the Seahawks to the 2024 NCAA Tournament after capturing the NEC Tournament Championship. Since then, the program has faced major turnover, with all but two players and several staff members departing after a 10–16 season in 2025."

"Acting Director of Athletics Dr. Sarah Tuohy has appointed Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Mike Scott to serve as Acting Head Coach while the university launches a nationwide search for a new leader for the program."

"Barnes had spent the past 14-seasons as the Roadrunners head coach where he went 209-231 (.475). He also served as the head coach at Ole Miss (1998-06) and Georgia State (2007-11).

Barnes had come under fire over the past month following the arrest of assistant coach Kevin Mays on multiple charges include pimping and pandering, possession of illegal firearms—among them an assault weapon—and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with the intent to sell. A former CSUB player from 2014 to 2016, Mays has been an assistant coach with the program for six seasons. He has since been placed on administrative leave by CSUB.

Scott is entering his ninth season with the Roadrunners. The veteran assistant has also spent time at Paris JC, Texas A&M International, Wayland Baptist, Midland, and his alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson."
