I wouldn't be surprised if Coach K sends a very similar letter to most every high profile kid that he has tried to recruit but decided to go elsewhere. Makes the kid feel good and conveys "class". No need to burn bridges. It's just that this particular kid turned out to be one of the all-time greats!
